Default Belinelli Drops 37, should these games be taken seriously?

Huge effort, but how big a deal is it really?

The dude has a nice game, a sweet jumper, and could do very well taking a lot of J-Rich's shots next year in the Warriors attack, but will he light it up frequently?

Could he be a darkhorse for ROY?

The GS system fits his style perfectly and he isn't your typical rookie in that he's played against a lot of tough comp for more than a few years.

Before getting too excited about this however we must remember that Keith Bogans once dropped 38 in a summer league game.

Just shows that he has some potential. Not that he's somehow fantastic and will have a killer rookie season.

As impressive as it was I expect him to put up anything from 6-10ppg, not be a ROY candidate.

but dont you think he is a Nellie kind of guy and someone who fits that system nicely?

I can easily see double digit scoring for this guy, I kind of think he is part of the reason they were willing to ship off JRich, but this summer league shyt can be so misleading.

no... it shouldn't be taken seriously...

if it is giving us a clue what's gonna happen in the regular season... Wang ZhiZhi would be NBA 1st team and Greg Oden would foul out in 12mins flat...

yes, it should be taken seriously. These guys are professional b-ballers (some NBA, some D-League, some Euro, etc.). These guys are playing very hard for their careers...auditioning for jobs...it's incredibly important.

no, it's not the same as going against the best in the world every night, but it is nonetheless deadly serious ball.

One game means nothing, but if he keeps it up, then he should be taken very seriously.

No it shouldnt be taken too seriously. He has a bad game the next time out and what do you or anyone who claims we should take these games seriously? Is your mind changed? Or are you defending his poor performance and holding only on to the good ones? Think about it.

it doesn't mean much by itself.

but he's just perfect for warriors' system. he's definitely can run and jump, along with shooting the lights out. he couldn't have found better fit in league.

in halfcourt style his relative inability to create from the dribble, lack of in-between game and questionable shot selection would be exposed at least somewhat. but for warriors, he'll be huge, guy is one of best shooters in the world and more than decent athlete even for nba standards. i'm sure he'll score double-digits.

Well since the scoring record in the summer league is held by keith bogans, I would say this shouldn't be taken seriously...yet.

Of course you take it seriously. Taking it seriously doesn't mean you automatically assume that he's going to be a big time player because he put up 37 points in a summer league game. Taking it seriously means you watch the game, see how he played, what was impressive, what he's going to have a harder time with in the league, and make an educated guess from there.

I didn't see Bogans' high scoring game, but I'd be willing to bet that he took full advantage of a poor summer league team with no interior defense and no one capable of staying in front of him, 2 things he never saw in the NBA. But with touch like Belinelli, I think it's pretty reasonable to expect him to be a damn good shooter in the league as well. Shooters can always find a place.

Ike Diogu put up 37 for the Warriors as well as a rookie in the Summer League. I guess you can take that for whatever it's worth. Let's see how Belinelli does when he has someone better than Marcus Vinicius guarding him. I still think Belinelli can be a good shooter/player in the NBA though.
