When people look at big man they look at Dirk and say Dirk's game is great. Which to me is sort of misleading since big man are suppose to dominate the game with power not shooting. Even STAT is spending time on his jumper and less on his post up, sure not so much now, but just you watch in 3 or 4 seasons he'll be another Dirk.
Anyways, stop developing players like Dirk, Big man are suppose to spend time in the paint not the 3 point line that's the Guard's job.
Anyone else think Center and power should go back to owning the paint instead of the Three?

Big men (hell any player out on the floor) are supposed to create a disadvantage for the other team. Dirk does that with his game. Just because big men are more versatile does not mean that they don't dominate. I guess you're forgetting about Duncan, Amare, the O'Neals, KG (though he does play an outside game), Ming, Howard, etc.
Yao don't dominate the paint much, as for Tim, he's doesn't have much youth left to battle inside, KG, well lately he's been shooting thosefade aways a lot! STAT is mentioned above modeling his game after dirk, whihc is BAD! Howard is good and Carlos is ok.

we need more shaq and less Dirk
So you can predict the future? Amare has been working on his 15 foot jumper because it would make him more of a threat. Teams play tight he goes to the paint. Teams play loose he spots up for that jumper. How is that bad? To be like Dirk he'd also have to learn to handle the ball and why would he do that with Nash on his team? Ming averaged 25 a game, if he doesn't dominate the paint then what does he dominate?
I find it amazing really. Other than Jordan no swingman has lead a team to a title in the modern era. None.
Why do teams continue trying to build around and draft and create swingmen? I mean if John Wooden could consistently do it, why cant a coach today with the resources available to them develop a single good big man? Why dont they want to? Same for the PG position. Other than Jordan and bigs, PGs are the other guys to lead teams to titles recently(Magic and Isiah) and several of the best teams that lost in the finals lately also were lead by PGs(Stock and Payton) though they also had very good PFs.

dirk is nowhere close to a "big man."
he's just "big." He stands at 7ft. that's it, as far as "big" is concerned.
but in terms of gameplay, he's nowhere close to a "big man."
a "big man" has inside game, has an interior presence, is not allergic to the paint, and defends the basket from small guys laying it up on his tall ass.
dirk is seriously lacking in those departments. he is not a "big man." he's just a "big" guy who plays "small."
Yao
Duncan
Howard
KG
Amare
Gasol
Odem
Boozer
Al Jefferson
Nene
Curry
J. Oneal
Maybe Byum
Maybe Krstić
Maybe Maybe Yi Jianlian
Thats a lot of Big Mans Not a lot of center but a lot of PF.
If that was a ranked list, where would people rank Gasol. Top 5 maybe? Or just missing out on the top 5? I would personally have him around 4/5 mark, the only guys I would rank above him are Duncan, KG and Dirk, maybe Howard or Amare.
