Shaq vs. Duncan- Both have around the same winning accomplisments; with 4 Championships and 3 Final MVPs. Duncan might have more awards than O'Neal, but Duncan is a F and O'Neal is a C. Duncan is the better defensive player. However, O'Neal is the better offensive player. And O'Neal's offensive impact makes him on top of Duncan. O'Neal goes down as one of the greatest offensive bigmen of all-time, arguably the greatest, however you can't say the same thing for Duncan's defense. Shaq's offensive dominance puts him over Duncan for now.
Edge: Shaquille O'Neal
Hakeem vs. Duncan- Another close matchup. Duncan has done more winning than Hakeem, no doubt about that. However, Hakeem is definately the better player skills and talent wise. Hakeem is better than Duncan on offensive and defense. So who gets it? Duncan's winning accomplisments or Hakeem simply being better? Well, Hakeem being better individually against Duncan is more important than what Duncan did with his teammates. To add on and solidify Hakeem's spot, he simply has played more years adding on to his edge. Maybe Duncan at the end of his career will get to Hakeem's level.
Edge: Hakeem Olajuwon
Shaq vs. Hakeem- Another close matchup. Shaq is the better offensive player. And Hakeem the better defensive player. Shaq's offense is one of the greatest ever for a bigman, and Hakeem's defense is one of the greatest ever for a bigman. Its also true that Hakeem on offense is better than O'Neal on defense comparatively. Which should give Hakeem the overall edge. However, even though Hakeem is one of the greatest ever on defense, and Shaq is one of the greatest ever on offense, a player's offense makes more impact in a game than his defense. Shaq's offense is more important than Hakeem's defense. And once again, Hakeem's offense over Shaq's defense makes this comparison very close.
Right now we have that Shaq's offense is better than Hakeem's offense, and Hakeem is a way better defender than O'Neal. However Offense makes more of an impact from 1 player making it neck to neck close. In the end, Shaq's awards and his winning accomplisments put him over Hakeem. Shaq had done more winning and thats all there is to seperate the 2. Just by a little.
Edge: Shaquille O'Neal
Final Rank:
1. Shaquille O'Neal
2. Hakeem Olajuwon
3. Tim Duncan

Exactly we should separate them and we all know Hakeem is the best.
Book it!
 DON should've put this on his original post, but please leave out the idiotic comments. Shaq was slightly greater than Hakeem. But you can believe what you want to.
Don would have been smarter if he wouldn't patronize his fellow posters. Don should know that every superiority complex (including his own) hides an inferiority complex.
how the F do u rank Hakeem over Duncan?
Yea he was good, but only 2 championships.
Duncan was able to get 4 over a what, 8 years time?
Just because hakeem is GOOD, u rank him over duncan, throwing out all the accomplishments
So u might as well as call Iverson GOAT.
At the end of the day, Championships matter the most. Duncan was the anchor of his team through all the years, he wasn't a horry type rider. this gives him the edge. F u with ur DON crap.
I know Hakeem's accomplish a lot, but the only reason you're putting down duncan seems to be that he's not flashy.

You act like Duncan is just like Horry, lucky being on a team that wins. But NO he is the player that helps them win. That means he has skills as a team player to help the team win.

You KNOW that's not what he meant. We all know Duncan won 3 finals MVP's and arguably deserved a fourth. What he's saying is Hakeem is simply more skilled than Duncan offensively and defensively. Dude makes plays that leave people shaking their heads.
Does that mean he was more effective than Duncan today? No. Duncan just got it done, and is undoubtedly very very skilled. But we've rarely seen him simply dominate the opposing center with his pure skill like hakeem often did (best example: Drob in his MVP year). Maybe it's because Duncan didn't have to play against as many elite centers as Hakeem did back then, or maybe it's because Duncan is so good because of his consistence, not his pure skill.
But making a statement like "Hakeem is more skilled than Duncan" isn't that farfetched of a statement, it's a perfectly legit observation, and absolutely no knock on Duncan. Hell we're comparing him to one of the best centers ever. Dude played like a more polished Amare on O and a rich man's AK47 on D. If that's not "skilled" I don't know what is. OF COURSE Duncan has skills. He probably is more skilled than 99.9% of bigmen that played the game (ex: shaq, ewing). Hakeem is just in that 0.1% or so above duncan.
