And it seems like waiting has paid off for Simmons as The Vertical's Shams Charania reports that the Australian forward has signed "one of the largest rookie deals for Nike."

So what is it?

As a rookie Kevin Durant got a seven-year, $60 million deal. LeBron got a seven-year, $90 million deal. That is considerably more than Simmons' deal.

"Nike's initial offer began much lower at $7.5 million over five years. After the NBA's draft lottery locked in the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers at the first and second picks, respectively, Nike increased its offer to $12 million over five years, with incentives valued much lower than adidas."

I think it's more of the style of Simmons' game. He's not a high flyer like Lebron or a scoring machine like Durant, so Nike can't really gamble a large amount on him. Hell, even Kawhi doesn't have a signature shoe yet.

Wonder what made him sign with Nike though, if Adidas offered him more.
