Are we going by wins and losses on a regular basis or actual basketball acumen? In the NBA the wins and losses have more to do with roster strength than coaching ability.

Exactly what I was going to say.

Pop and the Spurs don't seem to get any respect anymore. It's like when Shaq was dominating the league and not winning multiple MVPs in the late 90's/early 00's. Right now it seems like it's expected for the Spurs to just win 55-60 games and giving credit to Popovich and Duncan isn't needed.

To me the Spurs aren't THAT talented and yet they consistently are one of the few true title contenders every year. The whole team works like a machine every time I watch them. Everyone has a role, knows where to be and what to be doing at what time and it works. Popovich is a big reason for it all.

What makes you think Avery is a top 3 for NBA coaches? Because the Mavs are successful? He's got the MVP... how difficult can it be? He's got a brilliant method of motivating his team.. humiliate them in the finals and they are sure to win 70 games the next season..
