Calderon isn't appreciably better than any of the PG's I have now in Speedy, AJ and Lue. Therefore you'd have to give me something better than a straight up with Calderon. But then again Bargnani doesn't really impress me either. He's basically Zaza but doesn't rebound nearly as well...just another solid Euro stiff.
actually, calderon is one of the top pg's in the league in terms of production per 48 minutes. in my oppinion he's a top 10 PG in the league.
JohnyBravo is a muddled up fool. I partially agree with not trading marvin for jose, but not trading him for jose and bargnani? You are an ignoramus. If we are talking long-term value, Bargnani is the second most valuable player on both teams, behind Chris Bosh.

Believe what you will but my argument basically is that Calderon is a non factor and Marvin is a better prospect than Bargnani. So why would I trade Marvin for a player in Bargnani, who won't be as good, and a pointguard would wouldn't start?
I think Bargniani is now the better prospect. He too is not a number 1 option on his team and doesn't get plays for him. Yet he's contributed more to a playoff team in his first year of USA basketball.
I actually wouldn't trade Marvin Williams either for Calderon. Granted Calderon has shown he's more then just a backup PG and he could start for many teams, Williams has the potential to be a superstar. And although the Hawks are loaded with wingmen, I wouldn't trade a player of that potential for a good PG that you sorely need.
I really doubt Calderon could sustain his play of 2-4 weeks ago if he had to start every game. He started a couple, and played extremely well, but things like that can happen. I'm a raptor fan (I hope this does not illicit the usual responses... I am an intelligent one), so don't say I haven't watched him. He surprises people with changes of speed, but when help defenders clue in to this it won't happen as much. If Calderon and his teammates can adjust to the shifts and get easy dunks, that would be phenominal. But that is theoretical, and probably won't happen too often. Calderon's biggest downside is his tendency to over dribble the ball. His tendency to throw only 1 handed passes and leave his feet before passing hasn't been a factor AT ALL considering his outstanding A:TO ratio, although with more playing time it could get exposed.
Enough of my analysis. Bottom line, Marvin Williams is a much better prospect I think, and while trading for Jose now could be a quick solution to winning more games and still not making the playoffs, maybe 3-4 years from now it could be seen as a bad move. I wouldn't do the trade as Atlanta. As for Toronto, it is a tough decision. Upset a top 3 pg-combo-chemistry and piss of Garbo (and play Martin! arg!) so that you don't have to play Joey Graham as much.
Do it Bryan!
Seriously, it would be a hard choice to make. We aren't a lottery team, but we aren't contenders. Risky future, or a steady near-future?
I haven't read the thread. I just want to say one thing to the non-Hawks fans. The only way Marvin gets traded for ANYBODY is if our GM gets fired. Trading Marvin would be like admitting it was a mistake drafting him in the first place, and there is no way BK would ever admit a mistake.
Well that doesn't count because being from Atlanta, I have an emotional, civic pride tie with Josh Smith that I don't have with Marvin Williams. My argument is strictly on talent and potential. I just believe that Marvin Williams has more talent and potential than Bargnani or Calderon. I don't know why that is so far fetched. He was the second pick in the effin draft.
Lol are you out of your mind ? alright alright i will act like a person who doesnt know how to judge talent (ex Jonny Bravo) and lets say both players fill there potential. Andrea Bargnani's full potential is Dirk Nowitzki with better passing ability and Marvin Williams is a better Antwan Jamison....who would you rather have ?
