If found, they can lost their first round pick for a few years. That's what happened with the T-Wolves and Joe Smith. I forget which years, but they lost a few picks because of it.

Smith deal was a different circumstance alltogether, Ainge talking to his mom while scouting was on a different level than actually entering into a deal to avoid salary cap rules...
STERN DIRECTS FORFEITURE OF DRAFT PICKS, FINES TEAM $3.5 MILLION, VOIDS CONTRACTSNEW YORK, Oct. 25 -- The National Basketball Association today announced that Commissioner David Stern has taken the following actions based upon an arbitrator's ruling on Monday that the Minnesota Timberwolves, Joe Smith, and agent Eric Fleisher entered into a secret agreement in violation of the NBA's salary cap rules:
Smith
directed the forfeiture of Minnesota's own first-round draft picks in the 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 NBA Drafts;
fined the team $3.5 million; and
voided the player contract between Smith and the Timberwolves for the 2000-01 season, along with all contracts previously entered into by Smith and the team.
In addition to these penalties, the Collective Bargaining Agreement also authorizes the Commissioner to suspend team personnel who were involved in the making of the secret agreement. Those suspensions will be determined after subsequent proceedings before the arbitrator.
The NBA has also requested that, as required by the CBA, the Players Association impose appropriate discipline on Mr. Fleisher for his violation of the salary cap rules.
Re: Celtics fined by the league for excessive contact with Durant.
if Shaun Livingston had gone to college he would not have made it to the NBA with how often he gets hurt. Coming out of HS was a great thing for him. Durant should go to the draft.

Explain how. You think the injuries he suffered in his nba career would have happened in college??? Stop it. All of you, just stop. Now!

I just typed a long ass reply that didnt go thru. I'll break down Noah. Last college season Noah was not a highly touted NBA prospect. He played his way into one during the tourney time. SEC championship, NCAA tourney much like Tyrus Thomas did with his late emergence onto the scene via the tourney. Both drew buzz. Noah wasnt this college player of the year candidate heading into the season. Therefore all eyes werent on him as they were this year. We all noticed Noah being heavily watched this season. Durant has skills....he can shoot from deep, midrange, has a nice turnaround jumper in the post. Can create his own shot even tho his handles arent strong as they need to be at the next level. Noah cant do that. He's a high energy hustle player who can rebound and swat some shots. He can run on the break and get easy transition points.
That said he still is a top 5 lock in next years draft. Where he goes? Dunno. Could go 2 (assuming Oden stays like he said), could go 5. If Durant and Oden both stay Noah has a chance for the #1 pick especially if Florida makes it to the final 4, national title game again. Difference scenerio chief. Durant next season cant hurt himself because his game cant be exposed. He can only get better not worst.

Yea but he wasn't going to declare until he twisted his ankle in a pickup game
Ok and? He still was a sophmore. He had no plans on leaping because he feared being hurt as a freshman. He did it as a sophmore.
He could have saw a shrink and overcame that pickup game twisted ankle fear. A player of his ability I find it hard to believe he never twisted an ankle before. But whatever.
He got paranoid and thats the crap I'm talkin bout. You can get injured any time but for some reason the future you have a even BETTER chance of getting injured then presently? That i dont buy and i think is bogus as hell. That mentality that next season Durant can get injured. He could have got injured today. You're not exempt...and the odds are on his side he wont get injured thus his stock falling hard.

Apparently it was more serious than an ankle.

On April 16, Ford was taken by ambulance to an Austin hospital after taking what he described as "a spill'' in a pickup basketball game. He said he was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The university wouldn't release details, citing privacy laws.
Ford spent about four hours in a hospital emergency room.
I'm not arguing with you though really. I agree it's kind of silly to project the worse to happen on yourself, when career ending/altering type injuries are really rare, especially for guys 18-22, but if I'm guaranteed lottery like any of these guys I'd go.
