Dallas has no post-defender

Dampier and Diop are not very good, but they can do a decent job most of the time. If Dallas would fail to win it all this year, it's gonna be because of those mentioned two guys (being abused by superior players i.e Duncan, Shaq, Amare, Webber).

this is an entirely stupid topic. dampier is one of the best post defenders in the nba and dirk is a hell of alot better than you are giving him credit for here. he is without question a better post defender than shawn marion. marion is a better overall defender but you are nuts if you think hes a better post defender.

edit- also the two players who were supposedly abusing the mavs in the post combined for 10-23 shooting for 23 pts and 11 boards while the guy you singled out as getting abused put up 28 and 12 boards.

I was gonna come in here and say that the thread maker is way off. Dallas' interior D aint great, but is prob. good enough and a damn site better than the suns. But then I read this

so since you guys want to laugh at the damp is one of the best post defenders in the nba comment, why dont you come up with a list of better man 2 man post defenders in the nba outside of duncan, zo and mutumbo. yes damp is better man 2 man than ben wallace is.

honestly? He is about on par with Dalembert, above average but not one of the best (implying top 3 or so to me)

he is a much better man 2 man post defender than dalembert. Everyone thinks avery made the mavs so much better defensively and that is a big part of it but the year dallas made the biggest jump was the first year damp was here when avery wasnt coaching until the final 18 games of the season. Damp is a great post defender and he is without question better than either wallace in man 2 man post defense.

sheed may have become the most overrated player in the nba at this point.

Ben Wallace is not a great individual post defender. In fact, historically, he can't even guard Dampier down there
