Default Stupid Question

But when the say Official Timeout, what do they mean? Why don't they say which team took the timeout?

But if there are no free throw or out of bounds plays during the quatre an official timeout can not be called right?

I thought an official timeout was a timeout taken by the refs for a certin reason. For example if there's blood on the floor or something like that. Something that has no relation to the coaches or players timeout.

I thought the other one was a mandatory timeout.

Well I see what your saying because sometimes when I watch games they just take a timeout and they dont say anything and just break to commercial. But then others like ESPN mostly say its an official timeout or a team timeout.

That's an additional example, but there are scheduled "official" timeouts

Okay I see now, the local callers (brodacsters) call those the manditory, or T.V. timeouts. I see what you're saying.
