Garnett turned an L into a W last night. Not necessarily the same way Bird would have, but he did.

And I don't disagree with you that Bird is on a different level.

Since everyone keeps harping on clutch play (which you seem to believe is only late game scoring) name me a player with as little offensive help as KG that is considered clutch.

Just off the top of my head, in the NBA today: Kobe Bryant, T-Mac (with Yao hurt), Ben Gordon, and Paul Pierce. And no, the "clutch rebound" is not on par with the game-winning jumpshot.

You don't seem to know what KG has said. Do you recall the line "thank God for opt-outs?" he wants better teammates, has said this to the T-Wolves repeatedly. and that's not even his job. You are criticizing a player for being a poor GM. That makes no sense.

Yes, it's all Garnett's fault. Idiotic.
Nothing is KGs fault.

The End

It's not just clutchness, but even in terms of scoring in general KG is not in Bird's league. Bird was a vastly superior scorer. He was also a far better passer despite KG's high assist totals.

Bird was fortunate to be on quite possibly the greatest team in NBA history. Just imagine if Garnett were to sign with the Spurs and play alongside Tim Duncan. How many rings would Garnett have?

no one in boston was nearly as good as duncan (excpet larry) and no don't make me laugh with mchale, plus competition nowadays is a joke compared to the 80's.

It was probably mentioned but its easy to say when you played along side Mchale Parish and a cast of other good players.

Kevin Mchale is easily a top 5 GOAT power forward. He might not be Tim Duncan but he is no slouch.

No one is argueing that KG is better than Bird, but the fact is Bird played alongside 2 Hall of Famer in their prime in Mchale and Parish. No one Garnet has ever played with that was even as good as Dennis Johnson, who might be the best role player ever and one of the greatest defensive guard of all time.

Bird won 61 games before those guys even arrived, and his supporting cast had won 29 games the year before.

There is no doubt he is a great player so it shouldn't be a suprise he made that tteam better, but they also didn't go anywhere in the playoffs.

My feeling on KG is that he is to unselfish at times, he wants to win but not at the cost where he gets labeled a selfish player... he really is a very talented individual player who lives the motto "there is no I in team" and it has cost him some wins over the years...

I don't think that's fair. I do think it's surprising that Bird could take a 29 win team to 61 wins!

Also, that team was together one year, and it was Bird's rookie year. It's not like they lost to cupcakes either, they lost to a great Sixer team in the conference semis.

It's not like he needed a lot of help to win.
