Spurs swap De Colo for Toronto’s Daye at trade deadline
The Spurs swapped point guard Nando De Colo for Toronto small forward Austin Daye just before Thursday’s 2 p.m. trade deadline, a modest deal that typified what was largely an uneventful day throughout the NBA. The trade was first reported by Yahoo! Sports.
Buried behind a backlog of point guards that included Tony Parker, Cory Joseph and Patty Mills, De Colo was never able to establish himself after joining the Spurs before the 2012-13 season. He averaged 4.0 points and 1.7 assists in 98 games with the Spurs.
The 6-11, 200-pound Daye has had similar struggles since entering the NBA as the 15th pick of the 2009 draft. The Spurs are his fourth team after averaging 5.4 points in 245 appearances with Detroit, Memphis and the Raptors. He is averaging 1.0 point on 23-percent shooting in eight games this season.
