The Greatest Preseason Loss in the History of Civilized Sports
So far they have only lost one game to the Nuggets by 9 points this preseason and that was without kobe playing. Add in Kobe's 25 ppg and they beat the nuggets by 16 that is a blowout, basically. The nuggets are 4-5 seed looking team and the lakers beat them easy which is why they are contenders for the championship.
Re: Lakers Have Shown So Far This Preseason That They Are Championship Contenders
People are underrating the Lakers, but for good reasons.
Mostly, poor defense and health (age) issues.
But I'll say this, they can make a lot of noise if those issues don't come to fruition.
Say Kobe comes back in mid-December and somehow plays like he did last year; Gasol last year at center (without Dwight) was putting up 20/10 on a high efficiency and with reduced minutes to Nash (due to Farmar's acquisition) he could actually play 60+ games this season.
Kaman, Young & Farmar are good additions and will definitely contribute. This team has depth and scoring off the bench now. If Gasol/Kobe/Nash can stay healthy and play at a high level, LA will make noise and possibly contend.
Most people are too hung up on LA 100% being injury riddled this season; most haters are looking at them from a glass half empty perspective. LA has the chance to be pretty damn good this season; most people just refuse to aknowledge that by making assumptions that revolves around negativity.
