All huge egos do that in pro sports. They never acknowledge their rival in ANY way because they don't want to give them confidence or any accolades.

Mayweather Jr, when asked who his toughest fight was, mentioned Emanuel Augustus. Now, I love me some Augustus (one of my favorite fighters ever) but Floyd whooped on his ass for 8 or 9 rounds before his corner stopped the fight. It was so one sided it wasn't funny. Floyd never mentioned Castillo who not only gave him the closest win of his career (at least til he fought DLH) but many, including myself, thought he LOST to Castillo.

Kobe is no different.
