Default Lakers interested in Austin Daye

Alex Kennedy ✔ @AlexKennedyNBA

The Los Angeles Lakers have expressed interest in free agent Austin Daye, according to sources. Daye worked out for the Lakers today.

Lakers adding youth this offseason??? That's almost unheard of!!!

Would be a decent pick up, since itd most likely be for a near minimum. He'd be a 3/4 that fits the dantoni system. Hopefully one of him or wes really steps up this season.

What happened to him? He used be somewhat decent in Detroit.

He's like a tweener and system type of player. Sometimes it takes time for those type of player to find their spot to thrive.

First Clark. Then Johnson and now Daye. Lakers picking up guys that I was high on around draft time who busted

Daye can still be a serviceable backup three for 15 minutes or so a night.

nah, he was never decent in detroit. He had his moments, but he lost his shot after his first year. I always rooted for him, but he will never be more than an 8 min per night deep bench guy

Daye seems like a good fit at the 3/4 in the D'Antoni system. It's good to see the Lakers signing youth and athleticism instead of old age and washed up. Seems like the system that one of these young guys could break out in.

Rarely seen the guy play. Is he kinda like a version of Channing Frye? I've seen the comparison written somewhere at least.

hopefully the experience and leadership and work ethic of Kobe and Nash can rub off on some of these young, athletic, high-prospect semi-bust guys and help them realize their actual potential.

I think he will work great as a roleplayer under D'Antoni's system.

I hope the Lakers don't sign him. They're already stacked as it is, signing Austin would be unfair to the rest of the league.
