Shaq - questionable. Shaq stays in the low post, then kicks out. With Stockton, changes the entire dynamic of that team. Pretty much comes down to Stockton vs. Kobe as sidekicks.

Kareem - questionable. I have to see the type of teams he beat when he was on the Bucks. Bulls defense is otherworldly on the perimeter. I don't think he's faced that type of team in his prime years on the Bucks.

Hakeem - no.

Wilt - Needed the most stacked teams to win, no.

These are the only guys that really matter in this discussion.

No to all. Only way is to replace Malone with Jordan, assuming that takes Jordan off the Bulls team.

Any of the PG/SG/SF are obvious no's, as that Utah frontcourt would be awful. Maybe Shaq or Wilt

If Karl Malone had actually played like an MVP the year he won it, maybe the Jazz could have beaten the Bulls. But he didn't, so they didn't. It's as simple as that.

I find it interesting how some people are quick to point out a player's shortcomings when it suits their agenda, but other players aren't held accountable for their performance, or lack of.

These are the only guys that really matter in this discussion.

Chamberlain can never win in these discussions. If he leads the league in scoring, rebounding, and FG%, and leads his team to the best record in the league...and then plays exactly the same way in the playoffs, as he did in the regular season...but his teammates puke all over the floor...well, it was HIS fault.

Then, the very next season, he leads his team in scoring, rebounding, assists, and FG%, and they romp thru both the regular season (setting all kinds of records), and then destroy their opponents in the post-season, ...in a post-season in which he dominates two of the greatest centers to have ever played the game, and his teammates finally play to their regular season ability...and it was his teammates carrying him.

He gets ripped for leading his team in scoring (and nearly single-handedly carrying them to huge upsets over HOF-laden Celtic teams), and gets ripped because his scoring dropped in his title runs, even though he was, by far, the most dominant player in the league in one, and carried them thru the playoffs in the other.

And I suspect that had he averaged 50 ppg in the playoffs in a title run, the Wilt pundits would still say he was a "selfish" "stats-padder" that won because his unselfish teammates overcame the "cancer" that he was, and carried them to that title.

BTW, how come no on ever mentions that in his post-seasons, his teams were routinely facing teams with 4-8 HOFers almost every year in which he played? Like the '64 Celtics, who had an 8-2 edge in HOFers (and Wilt's lone HOF teammate was rookie Nate Thurmond, who played part-time, and out of position), or the '73 Knicks, and their six HOFers?

So, even with his "stacked" teams, he was almost always outgunned.

Of course, that is because Wilt was held to a higher standard than anyone else who has ever played the game. He was EXPECTED to not only overwhelmingly dominate, but to beat heavily-favored teams by himself while his teammates were choking on chicken bones.

Do you think Wilt puts Utah over the top? And what do you think of Wilt playing with Stockton
