Wow, I guess that's good for the league. Can you imagine if nobody bid for him and he lbecame a free agent and the Lakers picked him up? The Lakers are stacked enough as it is but put Miller on the team we're pretty much unstoppable.

If the Cavs bid for Miller, whatever money they bid is less money the Heat have to pay. So Gilbert is helping out the Heat with their financial situation, saving them salary, which they may then use for another player.

That said Miller would be a good fit for the Cavs.

Is Anthony Bennett that good?
It's not just that... It's all of that other young talent acquired over the last few years being a year older/better. Next year will be Kyrie's (and Tristan's) third year in the league. Generally, that has been around the time where franchise players take that next step. Plus, Waiters and Zeller (who has looked really good in Summer League so far) being a year older.

Throw in Bennett, Karasev, Jack, Bynum, Clark, Varejao back from injury...

This really should be a pretty decent playoff team despite the youth.

As for Miller, it makes some sense. While the roster is pretty loaded with young talent and a very deep frontcourt, it's lacking in outside shooting outside of Kyrie... And, your point guard really shouldn't be your only elite outside shooter. You need a role player who specializes in that particular skill for spacing purposes.

I'd be fine with the move... Cavs have a little money left. Why not spend it on Miller?

EDIT: Sucks that every time the Cavs make a move, the conversation is 95% about James. He plays for the Heat, people. He isn't going anywhere. Time to move on. This would have nothing to do with that.

RBA, with the signing of Bynum, what's going to happen with Zeller? He'll probably never be starter caliber, but I do think he has the makings to be a very solid/good back-up center; but if he's the big pushed out of the rotation (Varejao, Bynum, Tristan, Bennett, and maybe even Earl gets some PT at PF) it could stunt his growth.

I don't expect Bynum to be in great shape and get heavy minutes the first month or two of the season, so Zeller will still get regular back-up minutes, but once Bynum is good to go, I can't see him getting more than spot and/or mop-up minutes. Of course the two centers ahead of him have a history of not being able to stay healthy, so I guess there's still a good chance he gets a lot of minutes.

Several contending teams have interest in signing Miller as a free agent should he go unclaimed before Thursday's 5 p.m. ET deadline, front-office sources told Yahoo! Sports, but all of those would have time for doctors to examine Miller and understand his intentions and needs regarding possible surgery.

Players having elective back surgery to not play in Cleveland.

This story is hilarious. His agent is trying to scare the shit out of potential bidders. Mike Miller's agent needs to make up a few more stories.

"Rumors persist that Mike Miller MIGHT be a pedophile. Federal investigation possible, Miller's agent said..."

Zeller's in fine position right now. Neither Bynum nor Varejao should be logging really heavy minutes in the regular season anyway. Bennett will have to work his way in to playing serious minutes. Clark is going to be more of a 3, from what I'm hearing.

Zeller can play the 4 in bigger lineups and the 5 in smaller ones. He's a pretty versatile player.

Last year, when Varejao got injured, he was playing 30+ minutes a night. That was way too much and it showed. Earlier in the season, he was playing spot minutes and he looked good doing so. I think he'll be much more of a natural fit in this deep frontcourt than in last year's thin one.

Noone wants to play in Cleveland for some 5'4 manlet that talked shit about the best player in franchise history.

Miller will be clearing those waivers and reupping with the Heat on a smaller contract.

Nobody cares the Cavs talked sh1t about Lebron except Lebron and obviously you.

Mike Miller has been injured since forever and if he decided to have that surgery was because he doesn't feel the need to waste another year in a team that needs him to be in shape when he obviously won't because of his back.

Miller cannot rejoin the Heat until summer of 2015. Miller was amnestied, so can't rejoin team until his amnestied contract is over. Buh bye, Miller.

I love it when posters who know the rules post something. Thank you.

TonyMontana - do you have a damn clue about anything you post on here? Seriously...you're comment that he's going to re-up with the Heat is a detriment to your cred.

Back down until you really know what to say. Find another way to take shots at Cleveland.

I know you're trolling, but again... You seem to have a very weak grasp on the way in which the NBA actually works.... You know, the rules of the league. This stuff shouldn't need to be explained to someone posting on an NBA forum.

I have to give him credit. Despite the fact that he's the most obvious troll here, he always generates 10+ page threads.
