Default BREAKING: Anrdei Kirilenko opts OUT of his contract!

http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/213690041.html

Quote:
Andrei Kirilenko turned down $10.2 million guaranteed for next season for the right to negotiate, at age 32, a multi-year extension with any NBA team, including the Wolves.

Kirilenko's agent, Marc Fleisher, said by text this morning that his client has decided to become a free agent.

Kirilenko had until today to make up his mind on an option year for next season and he went down to the final day before deciding from the south of France.

The Wolves still could re-sign their starting small forward from last season.

Kirilenko is seeking a three- or four-year extension because he believes this might be the last chance to negotiate the last big contract of his career.

Surprises me. I don't think he'll get close to $10 million a year....but guess looking for long term security.

So he's an Unrestricted Free Agent now.

He'll most likely get a 3 year contract for like 5 million a year max. He'd be a good fit on the Knicks.

Played with Deron Williams in Utah and is VERY good friends with Prokorov. Heck, they all went vacationing together last summer. He would provide the Nets with some much needed perimeter D.

Yeah, AK would be a very nice fit for the Nets to cover multiple positions and can play well without the ball.

So let's see...the most Nets can offer him is a 3 year/$10 million mini MLE offer.

He just gave up $10 million for one year.

You guys see why Nets won't get him, right?

That won't stop Prokhorov to do some behind the curtains transaction back in Russia.

I think it might be possible. Yes, AK gave up $10 for one year, but do you think Prokorov made his money by playing the rules the right way? A lot of stuff can be done behind the shadows very similar to what T-Wolves did with Joe Smith but Prokorov is much smarter than that.

Of course he's going to go play with for a Russian owner. He'll have maybe his own city in Russia as a "gift" from Prok.

AK47 can always sign for mini-MLE with Brooklyn, and then after he retires get hired by the Nets in management.

As far as I can tell, there's no salary cap on how management gets paid.

AK47 to the Nets actually would be a great fit.

Williams, Pierce, Johnson, Garnett, Lopez, Evans, Blatche, AK47, Plumlee, and the other Euro they have. Not bad at all.

i doubt ak becomes a net. he doesn't care about friendships, just straight money. he just turned down $10 million. that tells you that he wants a semi-large long-term deal.
