What is Dwight Howard looking for? That's what's so funny to me. There's really no one with the answer. Maybe not even Dwight himself.
LeBron wanted a better chance to win a ring.
Chris Paul wanted just a better team.
Melo wanted the bright lights of New York.
He doesn't want the best chance to win a ring. Brooklyn was never going to be that. He doesn't want the big market. If he did, Dwight would've already resigned with the Lakers.
If he wanted to win he could go to a team like Chicago. The Lakers would easily accept something like Luol Deng and Rip Hamilton for Dwight if their only other choice was to let him go for nothing.
That's not what he's looking. Is it Houston? A team that's going to be just happy that he's there?
It will be a very interesting decision from Dwight this summer. Whether he stays in LA or bolts. He'll get paid, but you can't help but feel that wherever it is, Dwight will end up in a worse situation than if he'd just made his decision and stuck to it over a year ago.

If it was all about the money, he would have stayed in Orlando and collected the biggest check. He wanted to play with contemporaries like CP3 and not have to carry all the weight just like Lebron. He had no choice but to come to LA in the trade, he didn't want to play with old azz Kobe who will retire in a few years..so he can be THE MAN. He could have been the man in Orlando.
He wants to be a defensive player since he has no legit post moves, Dirk would take care of the offense. This is more reason he would go to Dallas with CP3. They both would be willing to take a small paycut (15mil instead of 19-20mil). Plus, like florida, texas has no state income tax. So they keep more of their money anyways.
I think he wants to play with other great players his age, so they can grow as a team, similar to what Lebron did joining the Heat and what Durant has in Oklahoma. I don't think he cares about winning a championship immediately, but I'm sure he like every player wants to win.
Even as a Laker fan if Dwight wants to win as he has stated then Houston is the place for him. He if he is healthly can make them a true contender and team up with Harden and be a damn good duo. That team is only going to grow as they get more experience.
He wants a title opportunity. He doesn't want to be yelled at, scolded, or told his game isn't good enough or has to change. He wants the media to be easy to deal with and laugh at his stupid jokes. He wants a shitload of money. He wants to be the undisputed A but if there is a B carrying most of the load that is ok.
It's funny his first choice was always Brooklyn. They would have gutted the team to get him, would have been a level under contender for the longest time, and the NY media would have hated him. People who lose and then joke are not appreciated here. It would have been mega ugly.
I'm curious to see if Dwight cracks wherever he goes because he's going to be called a loser who is running away from the Lakers and he doesn't want to be called a loser.
I think he wants to be a better player, but he does not have the introspection to understand that he is a second option. He went to the finals and that really messed in him up. Just look at Allen Iverson, he also went to the finals and his ego took over.
Players like LeBron, Dirk Duncan understand their game. They understand what they are good at and what they need to change.
