High intensity aerobics/ circuit training.

Changing your diet obviously should help.

Lower impact exercise than running. Not an issue when you're in your teens or 20's, but as you get older the impact of running on hard concrete/surfaces begins to take its toll on your body.

Are you sure their method of calculating body fat is correct? Common sense telling me, you must have more body fat than 13%.

Carrots are good for dieting

Running is definitely an efficient way of loosing fat. But you need to check your heartbeat, it should be around 60% of your max heatbeat (220 - your age ) If your hearbeats gets higher, your body will not be taking energy from fat but from your glycogen reserves...

keep lifting and reduce your calories intake ( only calories, not proteins ) so a protein shake would be good for you.

Run for an hour but run real slow. Don't push the pace at all.

Do that in the morning before you eat anything so that you are in a fasted state. Your body will munch on stored fat.

Default Re: Is running the number one way to lose bodyfat/weight?

i found the number one way is to use a mix between weights and cardio

However when using weights my favourite way to really lean out whilst keeping your most muscle mass is to use the time under tension rule.

An example for time under tension i will use is everyones favourite. The bench press.

Lets say i can bench 220 pounds for 10 repetitions.

For time under tension we will use 80% of our max weight.

176 pounds has been loaded on to your bench press. What now?

When the load is coming down towards your chest you are going to slowly bring it down towards your chest. 4 seconds down, with a pause when the bar is flat on your chest and then explode 2 seconds up.

This will cause stress on your muscle fibers and put your body into the fat burning stage whilst also maintaining muscle mass (or even increasing it).

Continue this exercise for 10-12 repetitions and up to 3 sets. Try and use this for all weight training exercises if you really want to lean out and create that immaculate body.

If you have anymore questions please check out my fitness page: www.facebook.com/bodywarehouse

It's best to run at a pace where you can keep talking without effort.

Leave heartrate to people who know their limits, and just not rely on "popular" numbers.

The holy trinity of diet, weightlifting, and cardio/conditioning.

Of course, if you want to lost weight, eat less. If you want to lose FAT however, it follows that you should focus on cutting out the junk (sugar, fructose, processed foods, wheat, etc.) and your protein and fat intake while being mindful of your carbohydrate intake. Food timing, meal frequency, and other things you can just play around with if you got the first two down.

Weightlifting is important because it's what helps maintain your lean muscle mass during times of strict dieting. Best way to go about it is to lift heavy shit. Whether you go low or high volume, just make sure you use around 75-90% of your 1RM, then adjust your volume accordingly.

For conditioning, what Rolando said is good. Experientially, cardio works best for me when I'm fasted. It doesn't matter if it's low or high intensity, just don't push the time intervals to too long. An hour of low intensity brisk walking or 20 minutes of sprinting would be good.
