Default Jordan & Duncan should be the only considerations when it comes to who the GOAT is

Simple reason - both never lost in the Finals (the pinnacle of any team sports).

Jordan > Duncan because MJ won the FMVP in each of his title runs whereas Timmy did not win in 2007.

Your favorite player (Kobe, Shaq, LBJ, KAJ, Russell, Wilt, whoever that may be) can't be considered as the GOAT if he has lost in the Finals.

/end of discussion

PS - Havlicek never lost too but he was only FMVP once in 8 titles. Mikan never lost too but he was never FMVP in 5 BAA/NBA titles.

Duncan can't lose in NBA Finals he's never gotten to.

Russell has won 11 titles.

Yeah, because it's much better losing in the 1st round, 2nd round and conference finals.

Russell was 11 out of 12 in the finals with the one finals loss being a year he was injured.

Duncan has no case as GOAT. None.

Kareem > Duncan. Remember that.

Duncan? Lol i know you're trolling but still, EXCULSIVELY won titles in down years for the league or under obscure circumstances, except for 05 (For which Manu deserved FMVP - Timmy was awful in that series).

99 - Went through Lakers without superstar Kobe, beat fricking Knicks without Ewing
03 - Went through who again? Nets and injured LAL? Still one non-in and out away from a possible game 7.
05 - Now THAT'S a playoff run against good opponents.
07 - Lol suspensions, lol playing against Cavs.

Bonus:

01 - Bounced by LAL
02 - Bounced by LAL
04 - Bounced by LAL
08 - Bounced by LAL
11 - Bounced by Griz :rolling:

05, 06 (injuries); 09, 10 (not contenders); 12 (Went up against OKC)

It just strikes me as odd when I hear/read ppl say that "Oh, Kobe is the GOAT" or "No, LBJ is the GOAT" or "(insert player) is the GOAT" and I'm like, "Excuse me, your choice for GOAT lost in the Finals! How can he be the 'greatest' if he let another team beat his team?!?!"
