Default Dpoy

ESPN held an in-house vote:

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/...ve-player-year

My pick (M.Gasol, though I'm fine with Noah/Gasol...those three have really separated themselves and are the class of the league on the defensive end) ended up doing pretty well, but it's pretty disrespectful to Duncan to have him so low in the voting.

Anyhow, who's your pick? Any other noteworthy candidates? What do you think about ESPN's vote?

Andre Iguodala,

I know he's on the list, but he's top 5 AT LEAST, imo.

They don't get to watch many Nuggets games at ESPN head quarters.

Completely agree. IMO he's been the best perimeter defender this season (last season as well).

Default Re: Dpoy

Lebron had a better case for DPOY last season.

I'll go with Gasol.

Duncan is just there for a lifetime achievement award. Everybody always bitches that Duncan should have won a DPOY but I disagree with it. He was always overrated as a defender to me and I don't even think he was the best defender on the team. I thought Bowen was better.

Which is why I can say I choose Iggy.. For me, he passes the eye test. From what I've seen, he should be a top 5 choice. Although there might not be stats to back that up. The eye test isn't exactly concrete stats. The things that great defenders do, just don't show up on the stat sheet.

Yeah but I can say the same thing about Noah. How many C's can switch off on a guard and keep him from scoring/getting to the foul line? It's just one of those awards that you have to watch a lot of basketball across teams to properly judge.

I hope Larry Sanders gets it, but it'll probably go to a bigger name.

Think Wesbrook should win. No other player can hold Durant to under 30 but him.
