I see him going 15-30. Too young to really know how good he'll become, he could be great he could be really bad so I don't see many teams willing to risk a top15 pick for him.

Pretty sure I read something about Danny Ainge being pretty high on this guy. Went out to go watch him play, or sent someone to go watch him.

Wasn't he signed by CAI Zaragoza last winter? I wonder what the release clause is. Anyway, if the best competition he's faced is the Greek 2nd. division, then he's far from being remotely close to playing in the NBA.

At that level yes... juniors...

Against higher competition (even against seniors) he is actually a SF and is 6'9" who is a point-forward at best of a "PG"... even Boris Diaw was a PG (and at much higher level)... even Sun Yue was/is a 6'10" PG, not in the NBA or even D-League, he still is that in Asia tho... many tall NBA players played PG pre-NBA... just before Giannis it was Kyle Anderson in similar prospect (6'8" PG), who now plays for UCLA and is a SF....

He isnt even that good from what i have seen, good ballhandling/passing for his size, but lacks in everything else, especially against higher competition....

If he gets to the NBA as he is right now he will be a SF/PF and warming the bench.... kindof exactly what happened to Sun Yue (and he was an actual pure PG and actually better than Giannis aswell)....

In the NBA you are not a 6'8+ PG unless you can do that successfully.... and no player has been able to do that since Magic Johnson, except Lebron James kindof.... around that height the only guy that officially plays PG in the NBA is Shaun Livingston (6'7") and the biggest reason he is played that way today is not just because he does have extremly smooth/refined handles but because he cant do anything else better, there is no other option, he is used as a backup PG..

I think the height and skill set automatically push you in the point forward role when you are this tall. Giannis is a skilled scorer already so he has no chance as a point guard at 6'10 and growing. At 17 he is extremely rare in that he can crossover to his left hand and dribble more than 3 times with his left and finish strong with his left hand (a thunderous jam) - @ 3:32 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi3gOHwdO7A : Two years ago in a thread about who has the best left hand I challenged people here to show a player not named Rose or Wall who can do that (a great insecurity comes into play after the second dribble). You need the strength to dribble hard to pull it off.

My other handle test is do I believe the player could handle Avery Bradley coming up court. Giannis wouldn't have this problem because of his humongous strides and ambidexterity would free him easily. I can't say at this stage and with limited video he would have the control needed to do this consistently. I don't believe Ginnis has a PG mentality to be primarily a giver (assist man) because he's probably looked to, to score.

draftexpress wrote a pretty comprehensive report on him, hes gonna play for zaragoza next year, and whoever drafts him, will likely leave him develop in spain for a year or twp. his nba buyout situation is fairly straight forward.

I just read it, thanks for the heads up. I used to have season tickets for CAI until I moved abroad. Still I hope I will be able to catch a game or two of his when visiting back, provided he ends up joining the team next season. I'm curious about the kid, it's quite obvious the potential is there.
