Default Andre Iguodala opting out of contract

Quote:
Iguodala confirmed to Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports Florida he likely will do what we all expected — opt out of the $16.1 million he is owed next season to seek a long-term deal. And yes, Iguodala knows that his next deal is not likely to start at $16.1 million.

“Yeah, definitely,’’ Iguodala, 29, said of that being a distinct possibility. “You got to weigh options. Security-wise, a player would opt, especially with the type of season we’ve had as a team. Teams know what I can bring to them, and I know (the Nuggets) know what I can bring to a team here.

“Players get like $50, $60 or $70 or $80 (million over multiple years), whatever the number was, they gave up a big number (in an option season by opting out). But in the grand scheme of things, pretty much get it back. You got security.’’
the nuggets should just part ways with iggy. He is already 29 and will decline. Nuggets already have a great young team, no need to give out a bunch of Net-like extensions.

Yeah, I'd move on too if I was in Denver's shoes. Iggy's not a good enough shooter to age well.

the question is how much of a price value is Iguodala with his skill set? If I am iguodala, i would stay with the Nuggets. Seems to be a good place for him to feature his talents.

if salaries do work, it makes lot of sense if he goes to indiana or chicago imo..
indiana giving away granger some way.

but iggy would add defensively to already sick teams defensively. perfect fit against miami..

They can't trade a player who will opt out, right? Do S&T's work with guys who are RFA's or guys who have the option to opt out?

Bulls could easily cut 20.3 million next season by not bringing RIP back (they won't unless he plays for pennies), and amnestying Boozer.

Don't think they would throw a long term deal at Iggy, even if it was possible though.

Don't see why not. He could opt out and resign a long term deal...then get traded. I'm sure the Nuggs would rather have this happen than to have him opt out and walk.

Nuggets can still have a decent season without him. Indiana, like many other ppl said, would be a nice fit. I wouldn't mind seeing him in Boston though.

Denver has his bird rights so the option of a sign and trade is there.

Nuggets will sign him, but if I'm them, I try to lowball Iggy a bit. I'm not sure what other team will/can pay him big money.
