Yes to show the respect that I have for Kobe Bryant's great 30,000 point achievement. I don't even like Kobe, but I can respect a man that achieved something that very few before him have.
Respect, something very few people on this site have. Nostalgia, now tons of people have that on this site.
Not too much more for LeBron to do to have more MVPs, same finals MVPs, more points, and more assists in less years. Deal with LeBron being better than Bird, it's not a knock on Bird at all. LeBron's like Bird on roids (literally, I think he's on HGH lol).
I just can't call Bird top 5 over KAJ, Wilt, Magic (I guess this one's debatable, not imo though), Jordan, Russell, or even Shaq. Clearly he is over Kobe, and Hakeem though. Right on par with Duncan, although slightly ahead.

It went good till the highlighted part!
Larry Bird TRANSFORMED the game forever along with MAGIC.
Duncan, Kobe LBJ DID NOT
If the modern day PURE PGs are based on Magic's style of play, modern day PURE SFs are based on BIRDs style of play.
& please dont even try putting Duncan & Bird in same sentence!
Duncan is an all-time great. His true measurement is Kobe! as they have similar starts & finishes to their career.
Bird is an absolute legend. His presense, B'ball IQ, range, leadership, intangibles are much ahead of 2nd best SF called LBJ & 3rd best SF called Pippen.
Bird is at WORST #6 or #7 position in GOAT list.
Bird is at BEST #5 position in GOAT list.
Yes, he is ahead of SHAQ by the way.
Duncan is NOT. LBJ is NOT yet!
Your BURNING question is "Why?"
Here is your answer!
Bird was better player than the "Best Baller of '80s decade" called Magic!
Duncan is NOT CLEAR CUT the best player when compared to Shaq, Kobe or LBJ. He maybe better than Kobe but Shaq? LBJ?
There is your answer.

There's like one legitimate "pure PG" in the modern NBA, and he's almost 40. Good for Magic I guess, and my big question is what exactly is a pure SF? Bird wasn't a pure SF, LeBron isn't, maybe Durant? I don't even know what a pure SF is other than maybe a dude who scores and boards.

Why not that's not a knock on anyone. Duncan's career is about even with Bird's given the advantage in career numbers, and longevity.

I've always hated this type of argument. This is nostalgia based, and nothing more. What makes a leader? People say Kobe's a great leader based on his on court presence, and in the same breath say Magic was a great leader because he made everyone around him better. I like tangible measurabe ways of comparison, not imaginary things in our head. No offense meant.

Again, i've got Duncan at #8, and Bird at 7, so me calling them close isn't a knock on anyone, just the way I rank them.
Bird is at BEST #5 position in GOAT list.
I'd say there's an argument to be made he's anywhere as high as #2, depending on the individual's personal beliefs on criteria.
Yes, he is ahead of SHAQ by the way.
Not IMO, but I can see the argument to be made, although Shaq has the career stats, peak stats, and titles edge over Bird, so I personally can't justify it.
Duncan is NOT. LBJ is NOT yet!
Agreed, although LeBron could be very, soon. At this time next year LeBron could very likely be #7, but not ahead of Shaq.

This I completely agree with! Their careers just don't quite stack up, which is why I have Magic ranked higher.

Definately for a few years Duncan was better than Kobe, but never Shaq, or LeBron relative to their primes. Not a slight on Duncan because Shaq and LeBron's respective peaks have been near the top of all time.
