I still think they will, but it's a bit more up in the air to me than I would have thought going into the season. I think the Grizzlies trading Rudy Gay is going to hurt them a lot in crunch time of close games. OKC still too athletic and young for the Spurs, I think the Clippers and a dark horse of the Nuggets could possible take them out.
You know, the more and more I see us play good teams on the road in the regular season, the more and more I start to think 2nd round exit. I hate to think and say it, but we've been really bad on the road against good teams lately. Only Durant and Westbrook show up, everyone else shits their pants, and the 4th quarter crunch time offense is Durant and Westbrook taking shots while everyone else stands around and watches. We get by on talent against the bad teams -- and we do ore than just get by because we kill them by 20+ -- but on the road against good teams we aren't getting the job done. It's a combination of bad coaching and the role players playing like ass.
We'll need HCA to reach the Finals again, and seeing as how it's looking more and more likely we'll finish 3rd in the West (we'll lose in LA to the Clippers on Sunday, book it), that means 2nd round exit. I've tried to remain optimistic about the team, but I've lost almost all hope. I'm going to hold out a little bit until the playoffs actually get here, though, because we stumbled a bit down the stretch last year, too.
Whenever I watch a Thunder game it seems like Durant and Westbrook are the only players on that team. Any time they're both on the bench, the other team goes on a crazy run. They're a good team but they have no depth compared to teams like the Heat, Spurs, Clippers, Nuggets, etc..
