Dwight doesn't wanna be there if Kobe's there.
Pau doesn't wanna be there any more either. Partly because they tried to trade him, but part of it is Kobe fatigue.
Even his coaches don't like him. Phil, Mike Brown, D'Antoni. He is a morale killer. Even for these playoffs, when they had a chance to do things without him, they had to answer questions about his tweeting and his other various ways of hogging attention. You can tell everyone just wants out. Kobe doesn't want any other player on the Lakers to even have a chance to take some of the spotlight from him. If he even thinks its about to happen he purposely goes out and has a 30 shot game just to try and prove to everyone he's still the star. He is going down like Iverson did, frankly.
The problem is that Kobe wields so much power with their massively ignorant fan base, that Lakers management basically doesn't have the guts to do anything bout it. Kobe runs the show, and he's about to drive the ship into the ground because he refuses to step down or even just step slightly back as the ships captain. They will not amnesty him. He'll make a huge deal about how hard he's working and he'll come back early next season, all the attention will be on him, his comeback, what a determined warrior he is etc. and he'll of course start jackin the shots up right where he left off, still playing no D, and none of the other Lakers will want to be there.
I'm not saying this with an agenda, or to poke at Kobetards like I sometimes do. But truthfully, Kobe is transitioning from selfish, self-absorbed individual ball hog to actual straight up team cancer.
And his stans will adamantly refuse to see it or acknowledge until the day they die.
Next year will be the Kobe Bryant show. Last year of his contract, contrived narrative bout his incredible return from injury, he is going out GUNS ABLAZIN. And there is no other Laker that is actually going to try or give a shit. It will be all Kobe. All the time. All 8 seed/playoff sweep.
Just like back in his prime, come to think of it.
