Default Amare Stoudemire out again, needs knee surgery, out 6 weeks

Unfortunately, the Knicks are used to this already.

That would put Stoudemire out until the first or second round of the playoffs. Stoudemire had an MRI this afternoon and he elected to have the surgery. He didn't attend today's shootaround because of two sore knees stemming from the increased amount of minutes he played the last three games.

"He's been very efficient with how he's been playing,'' said a dejected Mike Woodson. "I feel for Amar'e. He put a lot of work in this summer to get back onthe court. Now he's got to go back in again. I feel for him as a young man because he's put in so much hard work. But we have to go on.''

Stoudemire surpassed the medical staff’s 30-minute cap twice during the two-game Rust Belt trip for the first time this season. Stoudemire did stay under the cap vs. Oklahoma City Friday.

Time to start trying to trade this dude for a 2nd round pick this offseason. SMH. It's official. This guy is officially a bust for this team. It's hard being a Knicks fan. I just hope we smarten up and sign someone instead of staying content with a roster than really shouldn't make it past the 2nd round.

I definitely saw it coming. EVERY F*CKING PLAYOFFS.

2011 playoffs - injures his back in game 2,miss the rest of the series
2012 playoffs - injures himself before the playoffs, comes back with like 5 regular season games left and then punches a fire extinguisher in game 2,misses game 3
2013 playoffs - injured for the rest of the regular season, will probably miss the 1st round

Just trade the guy for anything. Get a pick or something.

He'll never be healthy for the playoffs and it's getting worse every year.

That's a shame. They should have just done both knees back in October. I think, after a first round loss this year, blowing up the roster should be firmly on the table.

Come summer time, goal numero uno has to be trying to trade this guy. Even if we pay some of his salary and get a future 2nd round pick in like 2015. I just want to see if Grunwald is going to sit on his hands and not do anything to replace him this year. Even if it's a Jerome Jordan like guy, do something.

Dont you have to match salaries to trade him?

How can you replace him? You mean release someone?

Not necessarily match. I think you have to be within 20% or something like that. It would have to involve multiple teams and we're undoubtedly going to have to either take on a bad contract or give up a valuable piece.

I was listening to Mkay or SSmith show the other day. One of them said imagine if this team hadnt gotten Melo and they were depending on Stat to be the superstar. How unreliable the guy ended up being.

It would take a miracle for this guy to get traded. 2 more years at 20 mil uninsured contract...

If a team has the cap space they can absorb his deal in total, like Houston, not as if they'd do it.

Amare is untradeable in my eyes, i can't see anyone taking on that risk.

All the team can do is find guys to plug in that can contribute some of what Amare can do collectively.

Although I know it wont happen, if this team comes up short, like first round KO short, I do feel a total gutting is in order.

Getting knocked out in the East with only one solid team is pathetic.

Unfortunately this is not the NFL where contracts can be restructured and only the bonuses are guaranteed.

Melo, Stat, Novak, Camby, Felton, Jr, Kidd are on multi year deals. So the team will be gutted.

Knowing that a team with cap space wont take him does anyone have any other viable options.

I think our best case scenario is if he comes back for the playoffs and plays well. Even if it doesn't translate to wins, it'll show a glimmer of promise. While I agree with Knickscity that we're probably stuck with him, I stopped saying "he's untradeable" about 2 years back when I saw some of the dumbest trades take place. The Magic taking back Hedo's contract. Charlotte not amestying Tyrus Thomas. Trading for Andrew Bogut's contract etc.

Ultimately, we're going to have to pray one of these bad teams with cap space are dumb enough to take a chance. It's improbable, but it isn't impossible.

Amare is gonna have to be packaged to be able to move, but we all know it isn't happening.

1) The Knicks wont do it, and 2) No one will be interested.

Oh now you should trade Amare? Not when it was slightly possible but after 2 more injuries and 2 more missed seasons. Even this trade deadline maybe? You can't wait for the crash to trade your stocks in- take a little loss and move on.

Now will you as a fan or the Knicks as a team wait and do the same thing with chandler? Would you consider trading him whe he still has value or do you wait for an injury or missed season and expect it then?
