Default Metta World Peace retroactively given flagrant foul, near suspension

Quote:

The NBA has retroactively given Metta World Peace a flagrant foul for a play in Denver against the Nuggets on Monday.

In the final seconds of the third quarter, World Peace connected with an elbow to what looks like the face of Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried. No foul was called live by the officials (which would have meant an ejection), but the league upgraded the call on review.

World Peace now leads the league in flagrant foul points with five, tied with teammate Dwight Howard.

If either commits even a Flagrant 1, the lesser offense, they will face a one-game suspension. A Flagrant 2 would result in a mandatory two-game suspension.

Howard's last flagrant foul was Jan. 13 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. No other Lakers have been called for flagrant fouls this season.

The flagrant foul count starts over in the playoffs, assuming the Lakers qualify.

Theres wasn't even a foul call in the game from the refs. He basically puts his hands up and faried comes in and chomps on MWP's elbow. You can even see MWP hold his elbow after because the manimal was trying to tyson MWP.

I dont like this retroactive bullshit on anyone.

Impossible to see from that angle. Looks fine to me, but we can't know unless we can see closer.

Not a good angle, but it seemed like a boxing out attempt and Faried just happen to run into the elbow.

Weak call but deserved since Metta plays rough defense deserves to foul out just about every game.

I don't think I've ever seen someone try to box out a guy by raising his elbow so high like thhat...when you box someone out you look to make contact with their body and extend your elbow out laterally...there's no need to raise your arm in the air to 7 feet, unless you are trying to box out someone's face

Maybe it wasn't on purpose and it was just an awkward box out attempt though.

But it's a judgement call, and this is Artest here. They judged it to be on purpose. Can't really blame em. Only Ron really knows.

Seriously? That cannot be a flagrant no one knows if Ron meant it or not, far out the double standerds in the NBA is getting way out of hand. If that was any other "non-thug" they would not even look at that, theres no way they can make a judgement on that what happend to innocent until PROVEN guilty?

I didn't see you guys complaining about retroactive calls when Rondo was suspended for touching a referee 2 months ago.

And that is why we have refs, to make the judgement calls.

If everything was obvious we wouldn't even need them there.

He did it on purpose. He saw him coming and got in position to make it look like an accident. I swear if I were a player, I would foul Artest so hard it would cripple him. Then walk off like I didn't mean to do it.

Faried came running to his elbow. Artest had his feet set, boxing out to get a rebound and here comes Faried running to Artest's elbow.
