I'm quite fine with it though. In 1 year we've completely rehauled the veteran laden team with young players. Vucevic looks like a stud and Harkless has really come on strong the past few weeks. Nicholson is already a competent offensive player (shame his D is so pathetic) so their are bright spots.

The almighty tank cannot be beaten with this current squad
That is the best way to rebuild. It has been shown time and again. That is why I actually praised the organization for the Howard deal. A lot of people looked at it from a player-to-player value standpoint... It would have made no sense for the Magic to acquire a bunch of decent/good talent to try to make up for losing Howard's production.

The best way for a small market franchise (which comprises the vast majority of the league) to rebuild and to become a contender again is to strike gold in the draft. It may take 2-3 years to find that guy, but it is better than bringing in a bunch of mediocre talent and spending every season picking in the 10-15 range.

There is luck involved, but that is always the case in sports. If the Magic get Andrew Wiggins next year, people will forget all about the pieces they got in return for Howard.

The same way the Cavs' organization is slowly but surely crawling out of the huge shadow cast by James and becoming the "team that Kyrie Irving plays for."

Orlando is playing it right.
