Mavs get Anthony Morrow
The Mavericks clearly feel they need a high-quality shooter more than they need a lock-down defender.
Though Anthony Morrow will not be confused with Ray Allen, he’s still a proven shooter from beyond the 3-point line. And that’s why the Mavericks gave up one of their best defenders, Dahntay Jones, to get Morrow from Atlanta just before the NBA’s trading deadline this afternoon.
“He’s one of the best shooters in the game,” coach Rick Carlisle said. “And you can never have too many shooters.
“Atlanta got a good player and we got a guy we feel can help us stretch the defense even more. It’s good to have another shooter behind Mayo to give us some minutes. He had not been playing much in Atlanta and Dahntay hadn’t been playing much here lately. Maybe both guys will benefit from this trade and both teams will, too.”
