Re: Have people forgotten Kobe had 9 straight games with 40+?
LeBron has always been a beast. He is one of the only players I can appreciate for many years, even though he isn't on my team. And luckily, I've had him in my fantasy leagues a few times. Which makes you appreciate him even more. The year I had Kobe.. my team sucked.
He's always been a beast. It's just that of late.. his beasting has gone to a godly level. And he's playing in control.. he's not being reckless or hogging or playing hero ball.. he is beasting but still playing in control. He is playing ridiculous basketball right now.

Not to split hairs, but it was actually 49.6%. He did also shoot 47.1% on 3s while making 2.7 per game during the streak. Though his shooting numbers were better before the last game of the streak when he shot 13/34 and 1/6 on 3s.
Individually, some of his accomplishments were off the charts from January on that season. Aside from the 9 straight 40+ and 13 straight 35+, he tied the record with 12 threes in a game a few weeks before the streak, and had the 42 point first half vs Washington in March(55 total) Also, the Lakers went 37-13 from January on.
Not trying to make comparisons. Personally, I think Lebron is currently a better player than Kobe was in '03, but it's pretty amazing watching both.

My bad, I accidentally highlighted the game before as well (He had 35 but on 39% shooting) - misclicked when I used basketball-reference's game summing feature.
But yeah for sure I know that season was historical. Tmac was my favourite player that year so I was well aware of how dominant Kobe was playing as they were in direct competition with each other. Even being a decade ago that's one of the seasons I remember most vividly.
And don't worry about splitting hairs, little mistakes like that drive me crazy so I would've corrected it too lol.

Great, he put up 40 points on a team where no one challenged him for shots and he jacked all night long. How many of those games did they win? What was his %?

FORTY-SEVEN.
That was when Shaq was still out from the toe surgery so Kobe had to do everything for the Lakers. It was also an OT game so with context who would you want taking the shots? Nobody other than Kobe could create their own shot with Shaq out of the line up. Kobe's shot was way off, but you expect him to shoot a ton in a game like that. The starting lineup around Kobe was Derek Fisher, Devean George, Robert Horry and Samaki Walker. Samaki Walker played 47 minutes! George played 39! Hell, 37 year old Brian Shaw in his last season came off the bench and played 32. They only lost by 3 to a team that would make the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Maybe because Lebron is doing that on a very very good FG % and fills basically all of the other stats. Kobe only scored. But I remember people were making a big deal of the kobe streak also so don't get your panties in a bunch.
