I want to see Lebron bolt to the Mavs.
Because I want to see Lebron become the GOAT, or at least enter that class of guys who you can argue for and not get laughed out of the room (up there with Kareem, Magic, and Bird).
Think about Dirk and the Mavs in the Don Nelson days, and compare that with Dirk the year they won the title. The difference was that Dirk killed you the same way every time. High post turnaround, or attack the basket, or open shots in rhythm. Not this Don Nelson "we put a lot of shots up and win a different way every time" stuff.
Rick Carlisle has maximized talent everywhere he's gone. After the Brawl, he had a group led by James Jones and Jamaal Tinsley (IIRC) playing .500 ball. He went to a Mavs team that was famous for being incapable of winning a title, and they won a title.
If there's a coach out there that can help Lebron define and specialize his game so that he can choose when he's going to kill you and how, rather than ad-libbing, relying on transition play, and playing hot potato in the 4th, it's Carlisle.
I don't think it even matters who else is on the roster. People will come to where Lebron James is (as Ray Allen did). Carlisle knows the kinds of players he needs, and Cuban isn't afraid to pay them. With those three, everything else should take care of itself. With good coaching, even those awful Cavs rosters with Mo Williams and Varajao could've taken home the trophy - if the off-ball play was crisp and Lebron was an expert in the high post.
Just fantasizing here... anyone else like to see this?
