The purpose of Rose taking a longer time to undergo surgery, was to let the swelling heal, and strengthen his hamstrings. It would ensure that he would heal faster.

The Bulls FO, are taking every precaution possible, so Rose isn't rushed back.

He's our franchise player, that's worth considerably more than Iman, monetarily and value wise for our team.

Answer: Because, Iman Shumpert is healthy, and can return, but in the event that he re injures his knee, the Knicks won't be completely deflated, and done with, come playoff time.

Derrick Rose is also healthy, and can return, but the risk of reinjury would be absolutely catastrophic, and crippling to this team, hence the extreme precautions the Bulls organization is taking with him.

Knicks are making sure Iman Shumpert is 100% ready to return. The Bulls are making sure Derrick Rose is 110% ready to return.
