Since the Celtics and Lakers are both scuffling, why not shake things up with a blockbuster trade that would feature four of the league's biggest names? From the Lakers' perspective, Garnett would be a much better fit in the frontcourt than Howard. His still-elite defense would solve a lot of L.A.'s problems at that end, and his pick-and-pop game would space the floor for Gasol. Getting Rondo as the centerpiece of the next iteration of the Lakers would help salvage giving up Howard, and Terry could provide scoring punch and outside shooting off the bench.
For Boston, the vision would be longer term, as a re-signed Howard would be an anchor for years to come and an upgrade on Rondo in that role. Adding Nash allows the Celtics to remain competitive, and Doc Rivers has plenty of alternatives to Terry in the backcourt now that Avery Bradley is healthy. If Danny Ainge is going to break up the Boston core, he may as well aim as high as Howard.
There are plenty of reasons why this wouldn't work. A Rondo-Bryant backcourt is a tough fit because Rondo needs the ball in his hands. Unlike Nash, he is not dangerous as a spot-up shooter. Pairing two defenders in Bryant and Rondo who like to freelance and take risks could prove disastrous in terms of contesting outside shots. Ultimately, the Celtics probably say no because they take on the same risk as the Lakers of Howard leaving.
It works for you because it gives you Rondo for a while and you could convince him to stay. Also, you have KG there to bring the defense that Howard was supposed to bring, but KG could play his natural position with Gasol and Gasol with KG. Also, Rondo would do great in that system and he plays defense. It works for Boston because they have no clue on how to build around Rondo. And Nash would do great there and they'd be better suited to winning a title this year or next. Plus, they could re-sign Howard.
With all that said, no chance that it happens or that it should happen.

The OP is right. This isn't one game. This is all he does. This streak is his fault. Just as this season is. Just as the level of loss in 2011 was his fault.
It's embarrassing that a coach who makes his name on his ability to inspire, teach and preach professionalism and hard work, and put out a team that plays unselfishly and like a team, can have a team that so regularly fails to put teams away, fails to regularly move off the ball, fails so regularly to do anything without Rondo first blessing the ball...and some of this, like playing down to opponents, has been going on since the first year together.
This is Doc Rivers' fault. Why does he get a pass for everything?
Because he's won a title and coached the celtics to 3 conference finals in the last 5 years.

What the F*ck is this d*ckhead paid to do? Stand on the court and look crazy? He makes no adjustments and draws up sh"tty plays when the game is on the line. Is Doc Rivers really dumb enough to not know who Kyle Korver is? He has been in the league since 2003
I would sleep so much better at night if he was fired.
They blew a 13 point lead in the 4th Q in game 7 nba finals 2010, Doc let that slide and called some terrible plays.
Re: Boston blows a 20 pt lead because they have a "d*ckhed for a coach"
Cs been trash since they traded Perk. They haven't had a real C. That's all they need to actually be decent. They ****ed up. They had an OK season in 10-11 but then they got roasted in the playoffs.
Until they get a C, it's hard to blame anyone for anything. You can't win with that sort of a roster and it's sad because other than that, they have a very good team.
Re: Boston blows a 20 pt lead because they have a "d*ckhed for a coach"
Why did he bench green? That's what I want to know. He was killing it on both ends. Got to give credit to rondo for back to back triple doubles, Lee played exactly like he was signed for, Green aggressiveness and KG coming up big in the end.
Re: Boston blows a 20 pt lead because they have a "d*ckhed for a coach"
lmao at those calling for him to be fired
he's been calling out his team for their effort even when they had that winning streak a while back. He's been saying it from the get go but somehow they start losing and its his fault?
