The Phoenix Suns are discussing a trade for Rudy Gay with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to sources.

The Grizzlies have a strong desire to acquire Jared Dudley and a future first round pick.

Thoughts? Ideas? Likes? Dislikes?

Is that the Lakers pick, or ours?

at this point I really have no idea whether I like it. Good thing is we are getting a capable swingman like finally, with good length, athleticism , good shooting touch, experience with the US team. But at the same time I feel the Suns should rebuild not retool.

If the trade goes through, and that we keep Gortat, our core this year will be,
Gay 27
Dragic 27
Gortat 29
Morris 24
Short term it should boost our win totals but not a great idea if we are rebuilding for long term.

well with all said, I won't mind the trade, but i would rather keep all picks at this point. Leaning towards dislike

From everything I've read and seen it would be Dudley and the Lakers pick, possibly Frye (to meet NBA salary standards) for Gay... Rudy is a huge financial commitment for the Suns if they make this deal. He's owed something like $37 mill over the next few seasons. Memphis (new management) seems to be trying to blow up the roster to save money, reports that Randolph is on the block as well!

I think we should go for it, esp if Frye and his horrible contract is thrown in as a filler. LOVE JDud to death but its good for both him and the team.

Dragic/Bassy
Tucker/Brown
Gay/Beasley/Wes
Scola/Morris
Gortat/JO

That's a playoff team. Beas would be stuck way deep in the rotation though. We gotta find a way to effectively play him or boost his trade value and ship him.

I don't like us giving them a pick for Rudy Gay, that is gay.

I say pass on this deal altogether. Gay, Beasley and Johnson as our core doesn't seem like anything special. athletic enough to crack the playoffs but then what?? We've been just good enough the last few seasons and it sucks. I say keep rebuilding, keep Jdud until we have the right pieces so he can help mentor and be a positive influence on new guys.
