RE: Braun - the guy is done, he'll never ever regain his reputation, he lied and lied to everyone and he's going to pay the price.

Passan tweeted that his teammates are glad he got suspended and are extremely angry that he lied to their faces for so long.

It was only a matter of time with Ozuna falling to what really was expected of him when he came up and Ruggs not a part of the future plans. Pretty excited to see where its headed, I guess that 38 or so inning scoreless streak forced the club's hand.

The Cubs are close to trading Alfonso Soriano to the Yankees for a mid level prospect.

Looks like Soriano is going to be a a Yankee again.

JP Arencibia, who is a avid Twitter user that even Jays use it to promote the team, has quitted tweeting. After he dropped the bomb on Jays' coloured announcers Gregg Zaun and Dirk Hayhurst in a radio interview, the media backlash has finally caught on him.

Here is last tweet before he closed the account:

Next time, drink some blue Kool-Aid, JP.

This past generation has completely fucked that up. Cheating or gaining an edge has always been somewhat part of the game, whether it be corking bats, spit balls, or amphetamines, but performance enhancing drugs being introduced into baseball has altered the look of the sport in a much more extreme way. During the steroid era you had guys peaking at 38 years old, which is completely unfathomable. Steroids aren't completely out of the game, but at least baseball players do not resemble science projects anymore.

To me, it's one of many factors that makes it impossible to fairly compare the numbers to years ago. Ball parks getting considerably smaller, balls being juiced around 94ish, luxury travel accommodations, tons of money put into trainers, nutritionists ect. and scouting reports with countless hours of footage.

Just a good reason for me to judge these players compared to their peers.

As far as the history of the game, I don't view them any differently than corked bats, spit balls or amphetamines. Players trying to gain an edge any way they can is nothing new, the only difference is what became available to players.

With baseball making absolutely no attempt to limit it until '05, we can only wonder how many players were on PEDs then. The numbers may not be far off the estimates Canseco and Gagne have given.

Why do people just assume the older generations were clean? Steroid use was rampant in the 70s in football, why do we assume baseball didn't know about it?

First of all, based on advancements in nutrition and exercise alone you can't compare eras. Then add in all the organized youth leagues and training programs that start kids at a much earlier age. Additionally, the comforts and ease of modern travel. The list goes on and on. You're naive/ignorant if you think you can preserve any integrity between eras.

Furthermore, there's likely been excessive doping since the mid 70's as it's widely known to have existed in other professional and olympic sports. All this historical bullshit MLB tries to purport is just that; bullshit.

Let them juice! I want to see the full capabilities of the human body.

This is an interesting point. The 90's into the mid 00's are referred to as the steroid era, but steroids were available MUCH earlier. I know Arnold Schwarzenegger has said that he and other bodybuilders were using them in the mid/late 60's.

What are the long term health effects of PED abuse? You really want this to become encouraged within baseball, where athletes are essentially forced to put this stuff in their body in order to compete? You don't believe it will encourage athletes to start using at younger and younger ages? Do you think that's a great idea?
