Just got back from A's @ Angels. Good game... because A's stomped those overpriced chumps.

Seriously, though, it's not uncommon for Cano's numbers to be a bit down early in the season. He's been the Yankees best player each of the past 4 seasons and he's a virtual lock for seasons around .300/30/100 while being a great second baseman. He's also become more patient as his career has gone on. Impressive that he's having the season he is in such a terrible lineup with no protection at all. Unfortunately, he's going to demand a massive contract. Hopefully A-Rod and Pujols have scared teams away from 10 year deals. I'd be fine with 7 years and 20 million per since he's only 30, that'd likely include a couple of decline years, but you kind of have to pay for 2-3 of those in modern free agency.

Dusty Baker's managing cost the Reds again today. He so desperately wanted Homer Bailey to get the win, that he kept him in at the expense of the team. Threw 121 pitches. They still won 2/3 in the series, but only gained 1 game on the Pirates as oppose to 3, had they gotten the sweep.

Am I the only one who doesn't really care that these guys use drugs? If you want to seriously harm your long-term health for the possibility of increased ability (there are no guarantees) then go right ahead.

I personally would put Bonds, Clemens and McGwire into the HOF without a second though.

I see very little difference between HGH, steroids, Lasik, ACL reconstruction, and micro-fracture. Or how about so much amphetamines you can count the stitches on the ball as it's coming at you. All allow players to do things they previously could not and give them huge advantages over previous generations.

Let them do whatever the hell they want.

I agree with the two above posts. I especially hate when this happens because then the MLB Network runs a bunch of retired players out as "analysts" and they all display their holier than thou attitude.

Braun being a huge douchebag about this whole thing is a bigger offense, in my opinion.

I agree. I don't care either, but I don't like it when some are given passes like Braun before this recent scandal despite a positive test. And David Ortiz has gotten a complete pass despite being on that same '03 test as A-Rod.

I don't really care myself, but hate the double standard.

Well, we have our first major trade of the season!

The Cubs have traded SP Matt Garza to the Rangers for 3B Mike Olt, SP C.J. Edwards, SP Justin Grimm and one or two PTBNL.

If the Cubs select SP Neil Ramirez as the PTBNL they will not receive 2 PTBNL. If they don't select Neil Ramirez, then they will receive two PTBNL.

I still don't want these players taking PEDs. Unlike many of you, apparently, I am a big fan of the history of baseball. What has gone on in the past 15-20 years has made a complete mockery of the numbers of the game. Baseball is one of the few sports where records and history is important to fans. This past generation has completely fucked that up. Cheating or gaining an edge has always been somewhat part of the game, whether it be corking bats, spit balls, or amphetamines, but performance enhancing drugs being introduced into baseball has altered the look of the sport in a much more extreme way. During the steroid era you had guys peaking at 38 years old, which is completely unfathomable. Steroids aren't completely out of the game, but at least baseball players do not resemble science projects anymore.

The Marlins have just promoted OF Christian Yelich and OF Jake Marisnick.

Can't wait to see what Yelich does in the bigs. One of the best pure hitters in the minors.
