Cody Ross just got ejected for no reason. (He struck out and tossed his batting helmet and batting gloves towards the bat boy, like every hitter does at the end of an inning - but the ump ejected him, ridiculous).
Nice sweep of the Braves. BJ Upton had a horrible series.
Wasn't a sweep. Was a four game series and we won the first game. And B.J.'s been horrible all year. That wasn't just a one series thing.
I was very skeptical of the 12-1 start. We're not nearly as good as that start indicated. We're an undisciplined lineup with too many strikeout hitters. When we're not hitting homers, we have almost zero ability to manufacture runs.
I knew we'd come back down to earth eventually, but losing 3 of 4 to an average Pirates team leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. Now we head to Colorado and Detroit for our next 6 games. Go 2-4 or 1-5 in those two series and that will more than erase the good start. I thought, with 4 at Pittsburgh, 3 at Colorado, and 3 at Detroit, something like 4-6 or 5-5 would be realistic and acceptable in those 10 games. Now I'm just hoping for 3-7.
Man I haven't been able to follow much since I've started a new job which kind of sucks, but it has allowed me to get to some stadiums I have never been to in my free time. Plan on hitting the Nats/Reds next weekend.
I swear, it's like he never works on his game during the offseason. I've accepted that he's just going to be a guy that will hit 30 HR's a year but will strike out an insane amount of times and have a shitty batting average. But at least he has massive power.
Oops, forgot about the first game. I'm pretty skeptical about the Braves starting pitching after watching them. Hudson and Maholm will be steady if unspectacular but Teheran looks like shit and Medlen needs a larger sample size before I'd have confidence in him. Beachy is an unknown whenever he comes off the DL. I like Mike Minor a lot tho.
