Lavar Edwards to the Titans. Huge steal.

Eagle's starting D as of today

LDE: Cedric Thornton
NT: Isaac Sopoaga
RDE: Fletcher Cox
LOLB: Connor Barwin
LILB: Mychal Kendricks
RILB: DeMeco Ryans
ROLB: Trent Cole
LCB: Bradley Fletcher
SS: Patrick Chung
FS: Kenny Phillips
RCB: Cary Williams

honestly, all my Eagle hate and bias aside...this looks like one of the weakest Ds in the NFL

the ONLY bright spot I can even find on this D is Fletcher Cox...everyone else? meh

Trent Cole will probably be a total failure at OLB...who are those corners?...lol

Browns with an all defensive draft aside from the 7th round (guard).

Barkevious Mingo - OLB
Leon McFadden - CB
Jamoris Slaughter - S
Armonty Bryant - DE

Pair those picks with the acquisitions of Paul Kruger and Quentin Groves, this defense is going to look completely different. Ray Horton will be transitioning to the 3-4, let's take a look at what the depth chart may look like...

DE - Ahtyba Rubin / Billy Winn
NT - Phil Taylor / Ishmaaily Kitchen
DE - John Hughes / Desmond Bryant
OLB - Paul Kruger / Quentin Groves
ILB - D'Qwell Jackson / LJ Fort
ILB - Craig Robertson / Tank Carder
OLB - Barkevious Mingo / Jabaal Sheard
CB - Joe Haden / Johnson Bademosi
SS - TJ Ward / Jamoris Slaughter
FS - Eric Hagg / Gipson(?)
CB - Leon McFadden / Buster Skrine

All of a sudden, that is a pretty deep defense with pass-rushers to spare. I highlighted that OLB spot, because it will be very interesting to see what happens. It is possible Sheard could be used as more of a defensive end in a lot of packages.

But, suddenly, that Kruger, Sheard, Mingo, Groves foursome will give Horton a lot of flexibility.

I think they may need McFadden to start opposite Haden right out of the gates. I like Skrine as a nickel guy, but I don't think he has the goods to be on the field for a majority of snaps.

There is still a bit of a question mark behind TJ Ward and I'm not exactly sure where Trevin Wade fits into all of this.

Very interest, though... And I think this defense has a lot of potential.

The only only part I don't like is Cary Williams and Cole at OLB. Cox and Kendricks both have pro bowl potential.

The safety tandem is mediocre. Phillips is really good when healthy, which is rare, and Chung is a hard hitter and playmaker we lacked...yet managed a way into The Hoodie's doghouse. They're easily better than Coleman/Allen.

Cedric Thornton is our best unknown.

Overall? Probably a 15-20 ranked defensive team. It'll take another year to get the players Kelly covets for a 3-4. There's quite a few players on D that aren't in their long term plans. I thought Cole would have been cut, but with so many 4-3 teams in the division that would pounce on him that'd be a bad move.

I'm really, really surprised that Tyler Bray, Matt Scott and Da'Rick Rogers didn't get drafted.

Definitely surprised about Bray. The other two, not quite as much.

Bray has a great arm, but I'm guessing his interviews didn't go well. "All arm, no head" has been the way I've heard him described. Should have stayed at Tennessee another year.

The Jaguars have signed QB Matt Scott.

I wonder how long until Bray get's signed.

Da'Rick Rogers is a headcase but he has the tools to be a starting NFL WR, usually teams take fliers on guys like that in the late rounds, same with Bray.
