EJ wasn't going first round. They could have traded up in 2nd if they were worried. Wouldn't have cost that much. Only QB taken while a shytload are still waiting to be drafted. EJ isn't even a day 1 starter. Stupid.

Everybody and their mother knew the 9ers wanted to move up, could have done a 16 for 31 and picks. EJ at 31 wouldn't have been as bad.

I'd like to see the Steelers get Giovanni Bernard in the second round but I'm not sure he is the type of RB we would select and expect to start from day 1.

Pretty much this. I don't think most teams have him ahead of Smith, Barkley and Nassib and yet they reached at 16 for him. Who else in the first round would have selected him in the first? Minny?

Plus, I rate him below Smith, Barkley, Nassib, Wilson, Glennon... And the other guy was right when he said the Chiefs could get him at SF's pick.

It's hilarious to think they've reached for this kid when they could have got Geno later. His stock reminds me alot like Blaine Glabbert and Jason Campbell.

I don't like how uncompetitive the division is. It lets the Pats get away with minimal improvements when they need major upgrades to win the SB. I'd love to see them getting pushed by a team like SF that's really going for it, even if they lost the division.

Vikings have had the best 1st round 2 years in a row.

We're potentially about to have 5 starters from two first rounds over the span of 2 seasons.

So satisfied with this draft.

People can criticize that we gave up a 3rd, 4th, and 7th but y'all need to remember that we were stockpiled with 11 draftpicks this season. Most teams are only getting 4 players in the first 4 rounds. Guess how much Minnesota is getting in 4 rounds? 4 players! 3 of them just happenned to be in the best round. Sorry we fed the Patriots the deal but both teams benefited greatly. Minnesota is hungry NOW.

We got the steal of the draft in Floyd, I thought he woulda been gone by pick 3. Xavier Rhodes will dominate across from Cook and we can shore up Antoine Winfields absense in the slot corner with Robinson who we drafted in the 2nd last season, he's a beast as well. Our secondary is legit now but we still need an MLB.

Cordarelle Patterson in my opinion was the best WR in the draft. His ability to slow down and speed up to make the perfect cut is Moss-esque, and how fitting is it that he might wear 84 here!! He will work beautifully in Minnesota's screen game. People can point out that he's still raw but he has a place in our system which is very important.

AKA the only throw Christian Ponder can make.

But seriously, Ponder isn't the worst QB ever but the Vikes aren't going to make any legitimate noise until they get a better QB or Ponder improves A LOT.

By the time the draft started, I wanted either Ansah or Mingo. I never really got into the Dion Jordan hype. Yes, he's extremely athletic, but he has yet to show dominance on the actual field and that always scares me.

Now, there is no doubt a hole needs to be filled in the defensive backfield across from Joe Haden. Without Sheldon Brown, taking Milliner with that pick would have made sense from a need standpoint, but his injury issues scared me a bit and I feel like a good pass rush can make up for some deficiencies in the secondary.

Still, I expect to either trade back into the second round to address that corner spot or that to be the pick in the third round.

I'll also say that giving up a second-rounder for Josh Gordon is looking like a damn good move.

No complaints from me tonight, unlike last year when I cried myself to sleep over first giving up a fourth-rounder to move from No. 4 to No. 3 when Richardson would have been there anyway and then taking a 29-year-old quarterback later in the first round.

Much better night tonight and I will rest easy.

Mingo had 4.5 sacks last year....not like he was blowing it up.....and for a guy being drafted as a pass rush specialist (he's terrible right now at defending the run, get's washed out or planted on the ground waaaaaaaaay to much) I would be scared of that. I can almost guarantee Mingo will be a sub package player, playing roughly 60 percent of the snaps....maybe less.

Putting all those factors together, I wouldn't be sleeping well taking him 6th overall.

I agree and with like most mock drafts I see Jordan being a better prospect over Mingo. So athletic and versatile. He would have much better stats if the ducks didn't make him drop into coverage so much. But then again that just adds to how versatile he is.

Watched a good bit of tape on him last night. I know in several games, he was used to protect the edge and spy the quarterback moreso than rush the passer.

Particularly against Manziel and Texas A&M, I thought he did a terrific job of keeping Johnny in the pocket. That was Manziel's worst rushing game of the season, I believe, and Mingo was a big reason why.

Watch this film and you can see his main priority is keeping Manziel under wraps and not to blindly rush the passer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIms6ImVG6w

Further, he will be in a completely different defensive scheme on the next level. He looks much more like a 3-4 OLB to me than a 4-3 end who has to line up directly in front of massive linemen every play. No, he's not a big body who will be used to stuff the run on a consistent basis, but I see him as more than just a pass rusher, too. I could see him being effective dropping back in coverage with his skillset, speed and length.

Based on his athleticism alone, I'd think Horton could get creative and move him around. Banner obviously thought enough of him to move out of the pick if he wasn't there. Since supplementing that knowledge with what I've seen on tape, I'm happy with the pick.

Everything I've read is that he has the potential to be great, but is a project.

But my look at it is this: we've need another good guy in the secondary for at least 5-6 years. The Lions allowed the most points in the NFL. Part of that was because there were walk ons playing for awhile, because of all the injuries. But outside of Delmas, the secondary is still pretty bad when you're up against the Packers and Bears (I think they'll have a good passing season this year) twice a year each. Especially with the way the league is heading towards being a pass first league.

AND the draft was fairly deep in the trenches, whereas secondary players got a big drop off. I just think Millner was the guy. Or at least a trade down a bit and land another safety to pair with Delmas, in Vaccaro.

I don't know football that well though, so I could be completely wrong in my thought process here though
