I don't know what to make of this. Did Arians not impress Emery enough? Was hoping for someone that was in the NFL ranks at least.
Well I've liked the moves Emery has made since he became GM so I'll hold out on my thoughts to see what Trestman can do.
Trestman has spent like 17 years as an NFL coach, he has tons of NFL experience as an OC/QB's coach. Pretty much the same amount of NFL experience as Arians. This is an awesome hire IMO. Trestman has one of the best offensive minds out there, and is a renowned QB's coach. He was also Jay Cutler's QB coach/trainer leading up to to '06 draft.
I'm a Bear fan and I was hoping for McCoy or Arians. I would've even been ok with retreading Whisenhunt, who I thought did ok with his limited offensive front and QB situation.
But the truth is I didn't know a ton about Trestman. Doing a little reading in the last week, he's at the very least interesting. A QB guy, who at least has head coaching experience, Canada or otherwise.
But the CFL thing is an easy thing to joke about. Even though Marv Levy and Bud Grant both took that path.
And more perturbing to me is that he vaguely resembles Dick Juron in the head shot that's floating around with these stories, and I still have nightmares about that guy's bubble screen/full back draw exclusive approach to offense.
what the deal in phoenix man. cards management thinkin it's a better job than it really is exposing themselves for having no plan or anything besides fire whis.
Cardinals Defensive Coordinator Ray Horton had a heated argument with new GM Steve Keim over being passed over for the Cards HC gig, and he will not be returning as the Cards DC. Todd Bowles is the new Cardinals Defensive Coordinator.
Horton is now the heavy favorite to become the Browns defensive coordinator. If the Browns land Horton who is one of the brightest defensive coaches in football - then their new staff is very, very good.
