The Nets fire Avery who is abraisive as hell and clearly got no response from the playoffs and put PJ in charge. That will work. He better be really short term.
It was the right move but the Nets better not fool themselves into thinking this is a very good team with poor coaching. The Deron/JJ dynamic sucks, and the team still relies a lot on role players like Evans, etc. that you can't expect to perform that well all year. They'll get a short term boost but quickly fall back to the same problems unless they bring in a coach everyone respects, and then build the roster as that coach sees fit.
Andray Blatche shocked too. Honestly during this drought, the Nets should have kept Avery and fought through this struggle. Deron is the reason for our failures. Nets completely went 180 from their season start to now.

90% truth.
i think avery's voice is the abrasive element, not himself as a person. other than his godawful annoying voice, he seems like a pretty decent fellow. humble and positive-minded.

I agree that SVG would be an ideal hire here.
Not sure why PJ stuck around the NBA as long as he did. He has always been way more of a college coach in style. That screaming in players faces style doesn't cut it in the NBA. I still remember him losing his s.hit on Wally Szcerbiak

hahaha... future rep.
I don't think Avery the person is bad. Avery the coach though is YELL YELL YELL. I saw the Nets play one game in person and sat right behind him and his body language is awful, it ranges from pissed to annoyed to pissed and always seems at the players. Mind you that was one game but it didn't strike me as something you'd want in your coach if you were a player.
Don't take this as i don't blame the players though...
LMAO. Firing Avery Johnson is not going to make the Nets any better whatsoever. Avery is just the damn scapegoat in this big mess of a team they put together. Atlanta got rid of Joe Johnson for a reason. Deron Williams has declined considerably since playing in Utah under Sloan's system. Gerald Wallace isn't that good. Stackhouse is old. Humphries is an idiot. Lopez is soft. The list goes on and on.
Oh well. We are talking about the Nets. Good luck being relevant in the next 5-10 years.
