I love this "It's not 2009 anymore" and "2-3 years ago" talk about Gasol. He had arguably his best season in 10/11. He didn't play well in the playoffs and then Bynum and now he's been done for 3 years.

I mean Pau led Spain against US and put up the most points, against Lebron and Love. This dude still has it, when he isn't injured.
No, he's actually not.
He is a better fit on the Lakers. As players, Gasol is better at every-thing except mid-range shooting.
I disagree. Millsap is much tougher than Pau and he brings it every night. Anything he lacks in size and skill is more than made up by effort and grit. Jazz would NEVER trade Millsap for Pau. EVER...
lol i was thinking about a Utah - Lakers trade last night while watching this game
altho i was thinking more like Milsap, G.Hayward for Pau....i wouldn't even want Mo if i were a Laker homer. he's too inconsistent with his shot and passes, and likes to chuck it too much.

If they get rid of Milsap, they are gonna have Kanter replace him in the starting line up. Theyre not trading for Pau who will just rot away on the bench which they wont have any use for if theyre still keeping AlJeff. Utah is not as desperate as LA is. They can get a better situational player for Milsap elsewhere.

Uh Derrick Favors? The future of their franchise they say?

both Favors and Kanter can play both center/pf but I think Favors is much better as a center. and Kanter is much better posting up smaller PFs without length.

Maybe Favors works as a C...but even tho Kanter is shorter than most and not long and not a shot-blocker, he looks like a center. Playing him with a guy like Favors is probably good stuff...Jefferson too.
I really, really hope Gasol never gets traded. These delusional Pau trade idea threads made by Lakers fans every day are hilarious.
Nothing delusional about it. It's crazy to think Gasol has bad knees because he had some tendonitis. It's crazy to think he's done when, playing badly, he's still very good. It's crazy to think any of this when he's coming off that Olympic performance. His age is not an issue and neither is two years on his contract. Neither is the money on his contract. The fact is that he still carries value and there it's absolute that most GM's would think so too.
Why in the world would Utah trade Millsap for another power forward? The only reason they will move Millsap is to free up minutes for Favours and Kanter. Adding another power forward who is looking much worse then Millsap is complete and utter stupidity and fanboy wish listing. Keep it to the lakers section of this forum.

You're really overvaluing Gasol. Who wants to pay a PF $19M next year when he's going to be 33 years old and you have no idea how his knees are going to hold up going forward?
This trade in-particular, unless Utah still thinks one of Kanter or Favors is a couple of years away from taking on a larger role (starter), makes no sense because the Jazz are trying to shed frontcourt players on expensive contracts.

It's terrible for Utah. But for teams trying to win anytime soon, he's a great pickup. If the Bulls, for example, didn't want Pau Gasol...they'd be stupid, regardless of what happens with Boozer.
