does anyone still believe the Lakers are going to the Finals?
I don't.
They'll probably be a 4th or 5th seed, win the first round, and then get knocked out in the 2nd round by either SAS, OKC, or MEM. Probably in 6 games.
It would be interesting though what Dwight will do after this year. Same thing with Pau. Only Kobe and Nash are beyond 100% sure of staying but Dwight and Pau are question marks for next year.
MEM vs SAS wouldn't be a bad WCF match up at all...
Re: does anyone still believe the Lakers are going to the Finals?
Everyone keeps wanting to make the Miami comparison, but in 2011 Miami only had Chicago and Boston to worry about. Those were the only two teams that could've really had better records. This year San Antonio, OKC, the Clippers and Memphis could all be 55+ win teams. If the Lakers get the 5th seed and have to face three of those four on the road... it's just not going to happen for them.
Re: does anyone still believe the Lakers are going to the Finals?
I never really picked a single team as a Western Conference NBA finalist to begin with, but I still think it's much too early to count the Lakers out. In fact, a part of me feels all this naysay will just end up making any eventual L.A. success appear a lot more unbelievable than it really should.
