Noah was actually our draft pick, and i do like him as a player.
But he isn't much better than Tyson in any facet.....other than passing.
He averages 9/8 for a reason.
Thibbs benched him and Boozer in fourth quarters for a reason.
Prior to this year Noah was averaging only 30 minutes per game, just like Tyson.

dont know if I can go there with you on that one. Noah is a dynamic high energy player. He really has more impact in games than Tyson.
I have nothing against his tips but I have something against his defense,or better say lack of.
He isn't playing anywhere near DPOY level. He's playing more at Amare's level of defense. Just standing in the paint, watching players go right to the hoop by him and occasionally getting a technical or making a flagrant foul.

I agree that he isnt playing great defense but he is being put into a bad position by the other players on the team lack of defense. We dont know what he is being told to do when they penetrate. My thing is I rather him stop the penetrator which he is doing late if at all. The problem is the communication at the top of the key though. The guards/small forwards have been playing TERRIBLE DEFENSE!

Yet he wasn't playing in 4th quarters?
I credit his superior passing.
But I guess impact comes up when numbers don't support it.
I disagree wholeheartedly with the whole tip out thing. It's like with JJ Watt in football. He bats the ball down if he can't get to the QB...but he still gets to the QB a lot. Chandler tips the ball unnecessarily. Sometimes it leads to fast breaks to other way. I'd rather see my 7'1" center secure a rebound and possibly even g up strong like a big man should. Not swatting the ball like Karch Kiraly. Grab the damn ball. Now if you can't and all you can do is get a hand on it, by all means...extend the possession.
As far as his defense,I dont want to hear any excuses. That's what he was brought in here for. Far too many times a see players flying to the rin and him ducking out of the way or just standing there not wanting to get dunked on. Simply put, he was given a bunch of money to be a profound defensive presence and I just don't see the defensive dominance people were ranting and raving about. He's an decent defender but he defense isn't noteworthy IMO. I just don't see why this guy has this stellar defensive reputation.
As for Noah, I disagree that he's only better at Chandler at one thing. First of all, he has a decent jumpshot from about 15 feet. Chandler can't make a shot outside of a wide open layup or dunk. Secondly, Noah is a better shot blocker and help defender than Chandler. They're about even reboudning wise and points wise but Noah might be one of the best centers in the league at running the court (Probably tied with Jordan, McGee and Howard when he's healthy). Noah also is a far better FT shooter. Furthermore, Noah is 3 years younger and gets paid less. I would do that deal in a heartbeat!

As far as "the stuff that doesn't show up in the stats", aka the Mike Breen Tyson Chandler appreciation award, I think Noah wins that too. The Bulls have been decimated by injuries and Free Agent departures. They lost their best player in Derrick Rose and still maintain a 14-10 record despite being severely challenge in regards to talent. Now I give about 75% of that credit to Tom Thibadeau (who I said I wanted to be coach when he was available). Noah has to get some credit too. He's been playing very well this season. I mean c'mon he's had a 30-20 game this year (with 6 ass, 2 stl and 2 blk). When Melo is out, there's never a point where I feel like "OK, it's cool, Tyson got this."

Just look at Tyson's defense in the 1st quarter against Brooklyn. That was the best defense we've seen him play all season long. He had a defensive sequence where he got a block and then altered like 2 other shots. Also he has 2 blocks in like 5 minutes.
Nothing has changed. There's no problems with our lineup that makes it tough for him to play defense. This just shows it's an effort thing.
He'll play it when he wants. And that's my problem with him. I can't stand to see player not giving effort and Tyson's been doing that since the start of the season.
We don't ask him to be Dwight Howard. We just ask him to be a presence in the paint, get double digit rebounds every night and convert easy basket opportunities.
So far he's been more like Amare on defense instead of DPOY.
He was great last night and I don't see why he can't do that consistently. It's just an effort thing.
