I'll never understand how back in the early 2000's Shaq only got 1 MVP and was always penalized for playing with Kobe which was always the excuse used for not giving Shaq the MVP's he deserved.

Same with 05, penalized for playing with D wade while Nash was "Doing it with less" which time would tell he really wasn't.

Yet for some reason, Lebron never gets penalized for playing with D wade AND Chris Bosh. Not to mention having one of the best 6th man this year..

That double standard is one that always baffles me.

How about Memphis? Who is their true MVP? As it stands now its Zach Randolph... any objections?

Thing about Shaq is that he missed a lot of regular season games which was a huge detriment in winning the award. He played in 79 games the year he won it

Wade dealt with injuries last year. In 2011 when Wade was healthy, then LBJ had too much help. It's understandable last year since LBJ was clear the most important on the team.

This year so far, I don't know. It's a long season, so anything can change.

If lebron is winning it it's because he clearly the best player on his team and the nba the way he scores so easily without care but not because he's the most valuable simply because he's clearly the best.

D wade isn't no where near the same wade in your comment by the way, and we all know how the media and ish underrates bosh. It's also clear lebron chims in big time in the success of bosh and ray allen.

You watch games, you dont simply go "Oh he has D-Wade/Kobe", how are those players producing? Are those players the best players/leaders of their teams? NO, they certainly were not..... you dont get penalized for it, because people watch GAMES.... Duncan was the better choice anyways during the time Shaq didnt win MVP... he achieved more wins based on what he had to work with around him, while being pretty damn productive himself... he deserved it more than Shaq... Shaq didnt win it not because of Kobe, but because of Duncan for example...

The only way Lebron will get "penalized" for D Wade and Chris Bosh is if they are the leaders/best players in that team, outproducing Lebron... then we have the defensive end they have to be better at aswell... then they also have to be healthy & consistant.... that hasnt been the case last season and this season... but was somewhat of a case in Lebrons 1st year with Miami because #1 Lebron/Wade fought for that alpha-dog role (certainly is not even close to be a case now), #2 Bosh/Wade played much better than the last 2 years that season aswell, they were healthy to & more consistant (is not the case last 2 seasons, especially Wade), meanwhile Lebron played his worst Miami season there............... meanwhile..... Derrick Rose was having the best record in the NBA with less to work with around him (at least offensively), so it was easy to give him the MVP... he deserved it... Lebron still was one of the top MVP vote getters tho that season

The argument was always "well if you take Shaq off the Lakers Kobe still leads them to the playoffs, therefor Shaq can't be MVP"

Now, last year Lebron easily deserved MVP, Wade missed almost 20 games & Lebron led his team to the playoffs & #1 seed.

However, in 2011 the year Rose won, Lebron was still considered the front runner for MVP yet he had a guy averaging 25 6 5 and another guy averaging 19 & 8. You could have taken either Wade, Lebron, or Bosh off that team while leaving the other two and they still easily make the playoffs.

da fuq are you talking about? By the allstar break, it was a forgone conclusion in the media that Rose was going to win the MVP.

That's simply not true, Rose & Lebron were 1 a. 1 b. Majority of the season.

So far? Nah, its Lebron overall.. but Durant i think has done enough to overtake Carmelo for that 2nd spot after these recent performances/wins/losses by those two players... up until now it is kindof like last year, it might end that way to, who knows... thing with Durant is that Westbrook is kindof bottlenecking his chances more so than Bosh/Wade bottleneck Lebron, Westbrook is playing awesome and never misses a game

Top 3 for MVP will be the same as last year with Lebron, Durant, and Paul. I think at the end Durant will win though but that's just a guess.

lol at Melo being a candidate. I would vote for ZBo before him.

Maybe at the end of the year, but right now it looks like LeBron's to lose.
