IMO Melo should be #1, NY is 4th on the strength of schedule rating okc is 17th
they both have a similar record but melo has done it with a worse team, he's the only player on the knicks who can consistently score 20points, okc has three of those guys
Thats why Carmelo is/was #2-#3 on this MVP ladder and might even take that #1 spot at least 1 week, i am just explaining to you and trying to explain to plowking why its not so absurd that Durant is ahead of Carmelo right now.... its not some ridicilously huge gap... but there is one edge, especially this week as Durant simply did more than both Lebron & Carmelo... even if its microscopical... those 3 top spots are close and will often change order with the weeks to come unless one guy goes ham and starts winning to much, running away with the MVP
Melo fans used to bring up Melo's assists to bump him over KD the last three years that Durant kept winning the scoring title although Durant didn't handle the ball as much. Now that KD is averaging more points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals with a far better A/T ratio while shooting the ball better from the field and the charity stripe, the new excuse is that Melo has less help

Kevin Durant remains #1
Lebron moves down to #3 and Carmelo goes up to #2
Lebron had the sickest numbers this week, but some bad losses aswell which didnt work on his favor on the MVP ladder... Carmelo took his spot, Durant stands at #1, nice numbers & lots of wins.... Looks like it will be a 3-man race this year
Lol Zach Randolph isn't going to get any votes for MVP, if that's what you're implying.
At the end of the season it's gonna be between LBJ or KD since it's a media vote, I'm just talking about the NBA.com's race to the MVP which is based on personal performance and team results.
If Miami/Lebron keep playing this lazy defense and end up 2nd-3rd seed, MVP will go elsewhere.
I think Durant is the frontrunner, if OKC end up #1 in the West and Kevin has crazy numbers like 27/8/4/2/2 on 50/40/90, he deserves it.
I don't think Melo will get it because his team relies on the supporting cast and team play rather than his talents exclusively. While OKC/Heat are just top heavy teams that rely mostly on 1-2 guys.

There is clearly one person who's a level above everyone else and they send him down to 3rd because of his teammates. That's cold.
1. Carmelo Anthony
2. Kevin Durant
3. LeBron James
4. Chris Paul
5. Zach Randolph
6. Kobe Bryant
7. Josh Smith
8. Tim Duncan
9. Stephen Curry
10. Rajon Rondo
Most definitely Melo should be #1 by now on the MVP lists at this moment, has the best record in the east and was producing extremly well this week.... Durant is very close... and Miamis losses last few games didnt do so well for Lebrons case...
This is also Josh Smiths & Tim Duncans first appearance in the ladder, Duncan took Tony Parkers place

If things continue like this Durant will be getting his first MVP, right now Carmelo is playing great but he has never been as consistent as Durant or Lebron so sooner or later Carmelo's numbers will begin to drop imo.
We got the best record in the league, have won 9 straight while Durant has been the best player in all of those, I don't see why he shouldn't not be at the head of the race.
