The Los Angeles Lakers have hired Mike D’Antoni, signing the former coach of the Suns and Knicks to a four-year contract to replace Mike Brown.
The Lakers and D’Antoni’s agent, Warren LeGarie, confirmed the deal late Sunday night, two days after the Lakers fired Brown five games into the season.
D’Antoni got the high-profile job running the 16-time NBA champions after negotiations broke down with former Lakers coach Phil Jackson. The 11-time NBA champion coach spoke to the club’s top brass Saturday about a return.
Wow. I'll gladly take D'Antoni but I was really hoping to have Phil again. Mike's younger so he'll stay longer. Now let's see large amounts of Nash and Dwight PnR, please.
Re: Mike D'Antoni signs a four-year deal with the Lakers
told ya.. no one believed me. ( well i was wrong about dunleavy ... ) but i knew they would laugh at phils outlandish proposals and demands
he basically asked to coach half a season, get paid twice as much, do half as much, and have all decision making controll over buss and kupchak. and only give them 2 years of his time
dude just threw away possible 12th and 13th rings because of his ego

I have zero expectations being a Bobcats fan. I'm laughing merely at the fact Phil was almost a certainty 24 hours ago. Good luck to you guys and D'Antoni though. At least he's worked with Nash before... the sole positive I see in this so far.

If Kobe buys in this may be best offensive team in NBA history. Guys need to be willing to push tempo and share ball a ton. I think the players will love it.

Though I think Mike will work well with this team, I can't say I'm not utterly disappointed Phil didn't come back. I guess he was just asking for too much.

Dwight will love it. Everyone else will be exhausted.
