Sounds like it might be serious. Shooting thumb. Needed surgery for torn ligaments on it before.

Williams underwent offseason surgery for a torn ligament in his right thumb in 2008, and went six weeks without participating in basketball activities.

He says it feels the same this time.

They have not signed anyone since waiving injured Josh Howard on Thursday and will continue auditions after Christmas before they sign a free agent such as former Wolves forward Lazar Hayward, James Anderson, Shaun Livingston or perhaps find a way to get Raja Bell out of exile in Utah in their search to find a wing player, preferably one who can defend. "If you're going to add somebody, you need to add somebody who will have a legitimate chance to help you," Adelman said. "Just to bring a body in ... I'm probably not going to play him, unless we have another injury. We'll play the guys we have." Minneapolis Star-Tribune

When 7-foot-4 Mark Eaton walks into a room, everybody
notices. When the former Jazz center walks into the practice facility carrying
basketball shoes, well, that's pretty noticeable, too.

Such was the case Thursday morning when Eaton showed
up when reporters were about to exit.

Eaton, now a motivational speaker, explained that he
was there to give pointers to Jazz center Enes Kanter after practice and that he
liked to help out when he can.

Not sure what Eaton could teach other than holding your arms up in the air.

Mo Williams missed his third straight game with a severely sprained right thumb, and there's no return in sight as of yet. "It's frustrating to say the least," Williams said before Friday's game. Deseret News

I see no reason he should get booed but certainly wouldn't be surprised.

Cousins is crazy talented and from what I can gather, he wants out of Sacramento badly. The Jazz have a ton of different assets to offer. But I can't imagine any scenario where the Jazz would give up any of those assets for Cousins. They care a lot about both character and chemistry. They aren't the type of team that will take the risk? Boston? For sure they would. Dallas? They would too. Just not Utah. ESPN.com

However, conventional wisdom says the Jazz could be active in the trade market for a point guard. General manager Dennis Lindsey declined comment on the team’s plans at the position until the Jazz have a better sense of the long-term prognosis.

The Jazz are carrying a maximum 15 players, including exiled Raja Bell and D-League assignee Kevin Murphy, so they'd have to waive or trade someone to bring in another point guard. A move does not appear imminent. Deseret News

Utah Jazz: Sprained ankle may sideline Enes Kanter

NBA » Second-year center doubtful to play Friday vs.
Phoenix.

By Bill Oram

| The Salt Lake Tribune

First Published 1 hour ago • Updated 1 hour ago

"Sprain" is quickly becoming one of the most feared
words around the Jazz organization.

And why not? After Mo Williams suffered a "severely
sprained" right thumb, a second doctor advised the point guard undergo surgery
that will keep him out a minimum of six weeks.

So, forgive anyone who was a little skittish over
Thursday’s news that second-year center Enes Kanter suffered a sprained right
ankle in the waning moments of Wednesday’s win over Minnesota. He did not
practice Thursday and is listed as doubtful for Friday at Phoenix.

In fairness, a sprain is typically a relatively minor
and treatable injury, and there are no indications that Kanter will miss
significant time. But for a team that has been besieged by injuries, the latest
is just an added layer of frustration.

"It’s another one of our guys down," Jazz coach Tyrone
Corbin said. "We’ll miss him; hopefully it’s not very serious and he’ll get
back soon. We’ll just have to shorten and tighten the rotation."

Kanter scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds
Wednesday before suffering the injury.

Will he actually shorten the rotation or will Evans play? Against Phoenix they can probably play Marvin or even Demarre at the 4 some. Which could keep Burks and Demarre in the rotation.
