Re: Why is odom the only player that could ever contribute off the lakers bench?
Chemistry has a lot to do with this year's bench. Everyone except for Blake, Hill, and Ebanks is new. And Blake isn't much of a PG anyway, and Ebanks and Hill doesn't really provide offense.
If we expect Meeks, Jamison to just fit in, that probably won't happen. I think Jamison will need to adjust his game a little bit. He will get his minutes, but he is going to play awkward minutes. What I mean by that is, he will likely play quite a bit with the first unit, and you know he ain't going to get much shots up... and then he is being looked to carry the second unit especially when Kobe and Pau goes to the bench.
Re: Why is odom the only player that could ever contribute off the lakers bench?
You have $80 million committed to 4 players. What the hell do you expect? Steve Nash or Pau Gasol is your f*cking 4th best player, and you're complaining about your bench? Laker fans are the most entitled in history. Its like someone complaining that he only has 1 supermodel girlfriend instead of 2.
Re: Why is odom the only player that could ever contribute off the lakers bench?
Because the Lakers only bring in old guys that are done.
Their bench was pretty effective when they had Jordan farmar, Sasha Vujevic, Ariza. Its all about having that youthful energy. Antawn Jamison is a big name, but the guy sucks **** and isn't a good energy guy without the ball in his hands, and if your a team that gives the ball to Antawn Jamison your not winning shit.
Re: Why is odom the only player that could ever contribute off the lakers bench?
this team needs a burst of energy. It needs shooters and some athletism. A guy like Shannon Brown or Anthony Morrow would be ideal. However, we can't get players like that so we just have to make due with the awesome starting lineup.
Re: Why is odom the only player that could ever contribute off the lakers bench?
Because he's unselfish.. 2nd/3rd option potential guys who come off the bench mostly have to have that quality about them.
harden, terry, odom, manu.. are all pretty unselfish.
Could you imagine players like Bynum or Westbrook coming off the bench? That's why Bynum always started.. even when Odom was producing/putting up far better numbers than him.

As compared to... Heat "fans" who all became fans after the decision and all coincidentally have a realistic sounding story which doesn't involve the decision/lebron as the reason why.
Re: Why is odom the only player that could ever contribute off the lakers bench?
Odom has starter talent and Bynum being injury-prone for half a season every year gives Odom more minutes.
Odom was actually in a perfect spot for a lazy starter-quality player. He only needs to show up when Pau and/or Bynum injured or having an off night.
In Dallas, it didn't work out not only because of off-the-court stuff but he had a more important role. He was Dirk's back-up and also the guy to fill in Chandler's void.
